Macau Science Center Travel Notes
Surprise is the seed of science!
I found that many people don’t know that besides Ruins of St. Paul and the Kun Iam Statue, Macau also has many great places to visit with friends and family. For example, our first stop today: the Macau Science Center.
One center with two venues: the main exhibition center is this building shaped like a conch, with five floors. Also, there is the planetarium for dome movies and a conference center. I had been recommended this place many times before, but no matter how much I heard, nothing beats experiencing it yourself!
Especially now, for their 11th anniversary, they are holding an event called [Science Fun Carnival] – a pun on the Cantonese phrase for "full marks." It’s very interesting and only held on weekends. So it’s best to go on a weekend; it will be much livelier than usual, with high playability, interactivity, and things to see.
▼ Important! If you plan to go, remember to save the following key points! ▼
▶ Name: Macau Science Center

Weekend Carnival Play Guide – Let’s Go!
The science center is bigger than I imagined, with many floors, so you can take your time exploring.
Each exhibition hall has a different theme. You can pick and choose, but the highlight is the anniversary-limited Science Fun Carnival! So this travel note will focus on the carnival. Remember: the carnival is only on weekends and runs until December 20th. If you want to check it out, seize the opportunity early!
Each activity has a fixed schedule. The image below can help you plan. You can also check their official website (https://www.msc.org.mo/activity.php?lang=cn&id=197&lg=cn#.X8mRo1UzaUn) for details. But the easiest way is to follow this travel note in order – you won’t miss a thing! Here’s a reference for you!
♫ Dome Movie ♫
Dome movie tickets must be purchased separately at the entrance ticket counter. Check the schedule and content on the official website in advance. Today there were two shows: 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. We chose the 11:00 AM show, "VISUAL SKY", about 20 minutes long. It’s a compilation of the best dome film visuals – all the stunning effects in one. Lying back in the world’s highest-resolution 3D planetarium, with comfortable reclining chairs, a realistic vast universe, and quirky storylines – this experience is definitely worth the ticket price!
◆ Robot Activity ◆
Back in the atrium, you’ll see a robot that looks like a little kid. This robot is called Pepper. He’s very talented – he can sing and dance, and even interact and take photos with visitors! So cute!
◆ Track Racing Game ◆
Take a few steps to the lobby exhibition hall and you’ll see a crowd of kids watching – it’s one of the most popular activities: the track racing game! Kids hold controllers to control the car’s speed and race against other participants. The thrilling moment of crossing the finish line is unbeatable! The surrounding kids cheer along – it’s so lively!
Tips: If time is tight or there are long queues, you can also go during 14:00–17:00!
◆ Scientist Role-Play = Easter Egg! ◆
Pay attention – this activity is very important. You must interact to get a pin badge. Only with this limited-edition pin badge can you participate in the following [AR Racing Experience], [Towel Workshop], and [3D Pen Workshop]! When we passed by, we thought it looked fun and stopped to interact. Later we learned about this hidden quest, and it was such a pleasant surprise! It's such a big surprise~
◆ Magic Show ◆
The mysterious magician is great at engaging the audience. He invites children to interact. Everyone watches with great interest, but can’t figure out the secrets. Amazing!

Before we knew it, it was about 12:30. We went to McDonald’s for hamburgers and fries to take a break. Recharged, we happily continued to check off other activities.

◆ AR Racing Experience & Towel Workshop ◆
Head to the Sports Arena. We used the pin badge we got in the morning to try AR racing, or you can go to the Nautical Science Hall for the [Towel Workshop]. This racing is different from the morning’s [Track Racing Game]. With a small camera and screen, it combines a real remote-controlled car on a physical track with AR technology, creating a realistic yet virtual racing world – both exciting and novel! It makes you marvel at how technology turns more and more impossibilities into possibilities!
◆ Hand/Face Painting ◆
Back in the atrium, there’s hand painting to experience. First, choose your favorite pattern, and a pretty lady will paint it on your hand – super pretty!
Not far away, there’s a brother dressed as a clown making balloon animals and giving them away – swords, dogs, butterflies… so cute it’s against the rules, irresistible! You just want to stop and wait for a balloon of your own.
◆ Scientist Role-Play = Easter Egg! ◆
Watch out – an easter egg is coming! At 15:00–15:30 in the afternoon, there will be a [Scientist Role-Play]. Be sure to go interact and get the pin badge to join the afternoon activities. This afternoon there was [AR Racing] and [3D Pen Workshop]. Since we had already done AR in the morning, we smoothly chose the workshop.
◆ 3D Pen Workshop ◆
Excitedly, we headed to the next destination – the Nautical Science Hall. The 3D Pen Workshop runs from 15:30 to 17:00. 3D printing pens have become popular worldwide in recent years, seen as the prototype of the magic brush from the story of Ma Liang! Breaking free from the constraints of paper, creating endless possibilities – with a pen in hand, creativity flows! Although it was my first time and a bit unskilled, with the lady’s guidance I managed to make a little something. I feel proud of myself~
◆ Fun Workshop ◆
Back in the lobby, we saw the workshop was still going on, so we sat down to try. During the session, a professional lady guided us on how to operate, helping kids develop hands-on skills, understanding, and creativity! I heard that the theme changes every week – what a thoughtful idea.
At the end of the day, we left with a lot of rewards, staying until closing time! Not only was it fun and interactive, but we also learned a lot about science and scientific principles. Explore endless technology, keep your childlike heart and curiosity! It’s also a great place to take kids. Hurry and come check it out before the Science Fun Carnival ends!
