During these days when overseas travel is not possible, Macau has been my most visited destination over the past year!

Based on my recent personal experience, Macau is currently the only destination where you can travel abroad. The number of tourists is dramatically lower than before, offering an unprecedented level of enjoyment. Hotel and flight subsidies are substantial, allowing you to enjoy a high-quality trip for half or even a third of the usual price.

And there's no quarantine required when entering Macau! No quarantine! No quarantine! Important things said three times. To travel from the mainland to Macau, you only need a Macau visa endorsement, the Guangdong Health Code & Macau Health Code, and a nucleic acid test certificate!

Huahua took advantage of a weekend to experience a luxurious and elegant hotel trip in Macau. During the three-day, two-night itinerary, I didn't even need to leave the hotel for meals, drinks, tours, or shows.

The Wynn Group operates two hotels in Macau: Wynn Macau on the Macau Peninsula and Wynn Palace on the outlying island of Taipa. Wynn Palace is the world's largest independent resort hotel with the most Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star restaurants. It is best known for its private cable car and multiple award-winning restaurants!

The cable car at Wynn Palace is free and open to the public. From the LRT station, you can walk straight to the cable car entrance. Hotel guests have a dedicated VIP lane, so they can skip the queue.

Taking the cable car into the hotel is truly the most unique way to arrive.

The fountain show at Wynn Palace is a major attraction for many visitors. During the day, shows occur every 30 minutes, and at night, every 20 minutes. The ride from the lakeside to the second floor of the hotel takes about 5 minutes. If you want to watch the show from mid-air, it's best to time your ride.

Huahua strongly recommends visiting at night. With the combination of music and lights, the experience is completely different from daytime.

The 30,000-square-meter performance lake has 1,195 water jets that can shoot up to 8 million gallons of water. Every dancing water jet moves to the rhythm of beautiful music, combined with advanced lighting systems, making it impossible not to be mesmerized.

If you choose a lake-view room or suite, you can enjoy the fountain show without going downstairs! The view from above is even more stunning!

Once inside the hotel, every detail from the shopping arcade to the guest rooms lives up to the word 'luxury.'

In the atrium on the first floor, a rare Chinese ceramic vase from the Qing Dynasty—the Buckle Duke Vase—is displayed. It was auctioned for $12.7 million in 2011. The vase dates back to the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. The entire artifact consists of four tall and exquisite vases. After they were taken overseas, the then-owner, the Duchess of Buckle, had them refurbished without damaging the original shape, adding gilding to enhance their royal character. The floral decorations throughout the hotel are also a hallmark of Wynn Palace. Flower arrangements in every unexpected corner create a perfectly balanced 'flower world.' The hotel introduces new floral themes each quarter, using the natural colors and forms of flowers to create seasonal displays. Huahua has seen several different sculptures and hopes to check off all the themes one day!

The hotel's check-in area is exquisite and grand, with floral designs from the ceiling to the carpet. There are separate elevators for low and high floors, which not only speeds up access but also ensures guest privacy.

Stepping out of the elevator, Huahua was greeted by a golden-toned luxurious decor and began to wonder if this was just the corridor. Wynn Palace is generous with room sizes! Even the most basic room type is 68 sqm, which is comparable to suites in some hotels! This time, Huahua stayed in the Lakeview Bel Air Suite, which is 170 sqm and features a separate living room, dining room, dressing room, and spa room—truly embodying Wynn's 'palace' character. Wynn Palace has four color-themed rooms: orange, blue, yellow, and gold. Huahua stayed in a gold-themed room, with warm tones that feel comfortable and regal. The huge living room is incredibly spacious—big enough for a party with friends! Huahua's favorite feature is the massive floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room. Not only do they offer a wide view, but they also face the performance lake directly, allowing you to enjoy the musical fountain day and night. The square dining table looks perfect for a mahjong game. The living room, with its 85-inch TV, is a luxurious audio-visual room! Watching movies and playing games would be fantastic! If only there were karaoke! The pantry in the living-dining area is fully equipped! Tea lovers can brew their own tea even on vacation. The cabinet in the minibar area is full of drawers; each drawer reveals a treasure trove. There are all kinds of tableware, Chinese tea cups, coffee cups, wine glasses—everything you need for any beverage. The ritual of using the appropriate cup for tea, wine, or coffee adds to the sense of occasion. In particular, the snack cabinet is well stocked with a variety of Chinese-style packaged snacks with unique designs. The mini-fridge is fully stocked with drinks from juice and coffee to beer and liquor. However, note that if snacks and drinks are removed from the minibar for more than 60 seconds, the system will automatically charge you. As one of the most beloved in-room amenities, Wynn Palace rooms are equipped with Nespresso coffee machines, allowing guests to replicate their home life during their hotel stay. The audio systems in the living room and bedroom use the world's top audio-visual brand from Denmark, Bang & Olufsen, and the color matches Wynn's signature gold. Surrounded by top-tier sound quality, gazing at the scenery outside, the mood becomes delightful.

How good a hotel is and how well you sleep are crucial factors for a travel resort. The bed linens use fine, soft 800-thread-count Italian Frette cotton, and the mattress is perfectly medium-firm. Huahua has stayed in some hotels with 'high beds and soft pillows,' but they were too soft, causing discomfort for those with back problems upon waking. The beds at Wynn Palace are just right—not too hard, not too soft. After waking up, Huahua gives it a perfect score of 100 and wants to take the bed home.

Wynn Palace's attention to detail goes beyond the quality of the bed linens. Each evening, every room provides a pillow menu with various thicknesses and firmnesses to cater to different guest habits. Huahua chose a rose-scented aromatherapy pillow and a space pillow to relieve cervical spine pressure. Attended to in every aspect, Huahua had a wonderfully restful sleep! There is a pad on both the bedside tables in the living room and bedroom, which controls all devices in the room. Lighting, air conditioning temperature, TV volume, and curtains can all be controlled with one touch, making it super convenient.

The luxurious bathroom, made of Italian marble, thoroughly embodies Wynn Palace's love for gold. The bathroom space is enormous—a huge bathtub, separate toilet, and double sink are standard for luxury hotels. The mirror has an embedded TV, so you can watch something while brushing your teeth to avoid boredom. The high makeup stool in the bathroom is another favorite of Huahua's. It's soft and comfortable, with a height that's perfect for sitting while applying or removing makeup—very friendly for women! Moreover, even the toilet paper is super soft, pure cotton with a floral pattern—such attention to detail in a luxury hotel.

The dazzling golden oversized bathtub has a bubble massage function. The bubble massage uses air jets at the bottom of the tub to create a large number of bubbles that envelop the body, relaxing all muscles. Huahua just wants to say it's too comfor!table! It's worth noting that the bath pillow by the tub is disposable, ensuring guests the most luxurious, meticulous, and safe experience.

A full box of toiletries and skincare products exudes refinement. The three-tier box can be rotated open, and every item has a touch of gold. At first glance, they seem like common items, but the thoughtfulness inside cannot be ignored: this year's essential hand sanitizer, collar stays for business travelers, hairspray, three types of combs... all carefully considered by the hotel.

Huahua has stayed in many luxury hotels, but the scent of the toiletries at Wynn Palace is my favorite. All bath products are made in-house under the Wynn Brand. The milky, sweet fragrance is so pleasant! The walk-in dressing room is spacious enough for multiple suitcases. Moreover, any charging cables or small items Huahua left on the table were carefully placed on a towel by the housekeeper and neatly arranged. The housekeeper even provided a glasses cloth for Huahua's sunglasses—super thoughtful!

The suite also has a private spa room! You can enjoy an exclusive, private spa service right in your own room, allowing you to fully relax during your vacation!

Due to pandemic safety measures, the hotel's buffet is currently not open, but breakfast in the room is still an excellent experience! The butler brings the breakfast menu during the evening turndown service. The breakfast options are still quite varied, including Western light meals, Chinese dim sum, Japanese set meals, etc. After selecting your meal and delivery time, just hang the menu outside the door. Breakfast arrives at the scheduled time. Of course, Huahua chose to dine by the window. Looking at the view outside, the entire mood for the day lifts!

[ Wynn Steakhouse ]

Huahua wants to try all the restaurants at Wynn. Compared to mainland steakhouses, Macau steakhouses offer much better value! Even before the pandemic, many non-hotel guests would visit specifically. Even now in the post-pandemic phase, the restaurant fills up daily!

Wynn Steakhouse is hailed as the best steak and seafood restaurant in Macau, a Forbes Five-Star restaurant, and a top choice for locals celebrating birthdays or anniversaries. The restaurant's opulent design resembles an opera house, with every seat having a view of the live stage performance. Dining here is never boring. Every 30 minutes, the central stage presents a short animated film using cutting-edge 3D projection technology. The six shows each have their own character, with realistic lighting effects. Enjoying a meal while having both visual and taste sensations is a double delight.

The two-tier seafood platter is a must-order! Freshly flown-in oysters, lobster, jumbo prawns, razor clams, king crab leg... every bite delivers the freshness of the ocean.

Grilled bone marrow is a classic Western appetizer, but Wynn Steakhouse's version has its own twist: the beef marrow is combined with tender oxtail. The perfectly rendered fat, spread on crispy bread, creates a rich texture. Anyway, Huahua forgot about dieting starting from the appetizer.

As a professional steakhouse, they offer steaks and Wagyu from the US, Japan, and Australia. Meat lovers can fully indulge! Huahua sampled a crossbreed of American Wagyu and Angus, which has the aroma of Angus beef and the tenderness of Wagyu, charred outside but tender inside. Then pair it with your choice of sauces—just thinking about it makes me hungry.

After the meal, don't forget the Baked Alaska dessert! The five layers of filling offer varied textures without being too sweet.

Each restaurant at Wynn Palace has its own sommelier, who provides wine pairing suggestions based on the dishes, ensuring the perfect match for the carefully prepared cuisine.

[ Wynn Palace ]

Wynn Palace was named one of 'Asia's 50 Best Restaurants' in both 2019 and 2020. Executive Chef Tam Kwok Fung has traveled the world and won numerous awards, skillfully blending Cantonese cuisine with Western ingredients while preserving the essence of Cantonese cooking.

The magnificent decor showcases the splendor of Chinese culture. White accents with emerald green, lantern-style decorations—very impressive! The private dining rooms are split-level, allowing guests to enjoy the fountain show through floor-to-ceiling windows while dining. If you want to sit by the windows on the first floor to watch the show, Huahua recommends making a reservation in advance.

Chef Tam incorporates the philosophy of 'eating according to the season' into the Cantonese dishes at Wynn Palace. Pursuing freshness, he visits the market daily to source ingredients. On the day Huahua dined, Chef Tam even served a few impromptu 'extras' made with his freshest finds.

Crispy suckling pig with cuttlefish roe—springy shrimp paste stuffed into crispy pig skin, crunchy outside and soft inside—a perfect combination! Steamed lobster with 20-year Huadiao wine and egg white—rich in Huadiao flavor, with bouncy lobster balls and steamed egg from Hokkaido, Japan—you could eat plate after plate without feeling heavy.

The ultimate roasted goose rice is unforgettable and has become Huahua's favorite at Wynn Palace! The hotel built a brick oven specifically for roasting meats according to Chef Tam's specifications. The goose is one of Guangdong's famous varieties, Ma Gang goose, roasted over lychee wood to create a unique smoky fragrance. With such dedication, how could the roast meat not be delicious? The fat from the goose seeps into the rice, and shaved black truffle on top makes it impossible to resist carbs.

The fish maw and fish soup uses yellow croaker bone for the broth, paired with both steamed and fried fish pieces—savory, rich, and thick.

If your vacation plans aren't set yet, why not follow Huahua's footsteps to Macau? Experience a trip with exceptional value and full satisfaction!
