A Hard-Won Trip to Macau: Fully Enjoy the Sweet Moments at The Parisian Macao
After returning to China in September, I endured a long quarantine period and stayed at home to accompany my parents. As someone who loves freedom, I was really cooped up at home. Due to concerns about the pandemic, my parents didn't allow me to travel far. As the end of the year approached, because Macau’s epidemic prevention efforts had been quite effective, I finally convinced my parents to let me go on a trip to Macau. After careful selection with my best friend, we found that the hotels under Sands Macao—The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao, Conrad Macao, Sheraton Grand Macao, and The St. Regis Macao—are not only close to each other but also have excellent facilities. Having studied in Europe, I really love the city of Paris in France, so I suggested staying at The Parisian Macao. To my surprise, my best friend also favored this hotel the most.
Before going to Macau, we specifically checked the route. When we learned that we could take the hotel’s free shuttle bus after crossing the border, we were overjoyed. It not only saved us transportation costs but was also safe and convenient. Having enjoyed such considerate service even before checking in, we must give a thumbs-up to The Parisian Macao!
To appreciate a hotel, you should start from the outside and gradually take in the beauty of the architecture. Especially for a typical European-style building like The Parisian Macao, with its numerous exquisite reliefs and murals, it was a great opportunity to broaden my horizons. Although I had been abroad for over two years, I still felt thrilled when I saw this castle-like hotel in Macau.
In front of the hotel, there is a green corridor where guests alight from vehicles, and staff help with luggage. The color of the corridor is very beautiful and perfect for photos.
Cross the street and you reach the Parisian Garden, open from 10 am to 8 pm. The huge green lawn inside is ideal for picnics. When we went, we encountered a couple taking wedding photos—a perfect match, so enviable.
Even though it was already January, the midday sun was still warm. Taking a walk in the garden, breathing fresh air, and releasing all the pent-up energy from being stuck at home for months made me feel refreshed.
One of the best spots to photograph the Eiffel Tower is right here. You can capture the full view of the hotel and the tower, as well as the surrounding trees. My best friend insisted on a competition: whoever takes the worse photo pays for the meal. Guess who won?
Entering the hotel, you are greeted by the Neptune Fountain, dome murals, and an upside-down Christmas tree. The magnificent lobby makes you want to show off to friends. To reassure my parents, I made a video call so they could also see the stunning interior design. At the check-in area, there are many paintings, filling the air with artistic atmosphere.
The shopping mall inside The Parisian Macao is huge, with many famous stores. For someone like me with no sense of direction, it would take one or two hours to find a store without a shopping guide. Sisters who want to shop in Macau should remember to make a shopping list in advance, otherwise, you'll waste a lot of time because you'll want to go into every store, haha.
As the saying goes, "one man's meat is another man's poison." I don't know what everyone likes. I can only share a few stores that I think are worth visiting based on my personal preference. The first is Pandora. This jewelry store is having a big promotion—a 50% discount saves a lot of money.
I prefer spending money on jewelry rather than bags. I take good care of the jewelry I buy. I have purchased Pandora products several times, and the quality is great. Whether wearing them myself or giving them as gifts to friends, they are suitable.
Back in high school history textbooks, I read about the water city of Venice and yearned to see it. Unexpectedly, on this trip to Macau, I could visit a similar water city. The design of The Grand Canal Shoppes perfectly replicates the charm of Venice. The European-style buildings along the canal make you feel as if you are in Italy. Watching the gondolas sailing on the canal, I really want to settle down here.
The sky here is artificial, changing colors, and it never rains. As the largest indoor shopping mall in Macau, the shops here are diverse and high-quality, often with promotions.
The bright indoor shopping environment makes people feel at ease, like taking a walk in a palace. Perhaps because the mall is so large, we didn't encounter many tourists along the way, so we could leisurely stroll and enjoy the indoor scenery.
Staying at home for too long made me lazy—no makeup, no skincare. Because of wearing a mask, I even broke out in many pimples. From the first day in Macau, my best friend kept insisting on going to DFA for shopping. When we finally went, there weren't many people. Each of us grabbed a basket and started shopping—go go go!
The saleslady, seeing my pimples, recommended many gentle products and taught me some skincare tips. She was really nice. My best friend is addicted to buying lipstick; she wants every popular shade. I'm more casual—I can use one lipstick for over a year. DFA was having a discount; in short, the more you buy, the more you save. Encouraged by my best friend, I also bought two YSL lipsticks in beautiful colors.
For shoes, you must go to Skechers: buy one get one free. I had my eye on a pair of dad sneakers for a long time, and unexpectedly they had them in stock. I bought them decisively, getting two pairs for the price of one—felt great.
There was a little episode when trying on shoes: the sales clerk thought I couldn't put them on and was about to help me. The service attitude was impeccable.
Now for the highlight: the hotel suite. Take a look at this amazing Champagne Suite. We booked a double bed with Eiffel Tower view. The main color of the room was my favorite off-white—simple, grand, and elegant.
Both the bedroom and living room have floor-to-ceiling windows with good blackout curtains. The delicate little living room has a romantic flair, and the furniture is complete. Being able to stay in such a good hotel is thanks to my best friend's careful selection—great value for money.
You can also see in the picture how it feels after drawing the curtains—so peaceful. I absolutely love drawing the curtains and turning on the lights; it gives me a great sense of security.
The room is not small, with many areas: a walk-in closet, a pantry, a dressing table, and a separate toilet in the bathroom. The space planning impressed me thoroughly. The soundproofing of the hotel is good; I even tested the water flow in the bathroom, and it was fine.
The Eiffel Tower is a key element of The Parisian Macao. We encountered many Eiffel Tower models in the shopping mall. If you want a closer interaction with the tower, you can buy a ticket at the Eiffel Tower souvenir shop and go directly to the viewing platforms on the 7th and 37th floors.
The Eiffel Tower souvenir shop sells creative handicrafts, and some exquisite figurines are irresistible. I was worrying about what gifts to bring for the kids at home, but after entering this shop, I got ideas.
Very meaningful keychains with a small Eiffel Tower and various Parisian elements—beautiful and practical.
Next to the shop is the entrance to the tower. We first went to the 7th-floor observation deck to see the long-awaited Love Lock Bridge. Seeing the rusty locks deeply touched me. People entrust their beautiful feelings here, year after year. As long as the locks are there, the feelings won't dissipate.
The view from the tower is completely different from below. Here you can get closer to the spire. At the base of the tower, there is a huge love lock, and many couples eagerly take photos with it. We also found a fun spot: through a small circular hole, we could look down at the tower base and took a very evocative photo with a phone.
Taking the observation elevator to the 37th floor, as the height increases, the view becomes broader. I recommend visiting the tower around dusk, when the sunset is stunning and makes your heart race.
Here's some good news: The Londoner Macao has opened, officially check-in on January 22. This high-end European-themed hotel has a brand-new design style. If you have the chance, you must experience it. Besides top-notch accommodation, the hotel has shopping malls, gourmet restaurants, and various entertainment facilities. As far as I know, many restaurants have already opened, such as The Residence, which is an exclusive club for Londoner hotel guests and very distinctive. The newly built Londoner Shopping Mall is also very large, full of British atmosphere.
To see whether a shopping mall has strength, look at the brands it houses. The Londoner Shopping Mall has hundreds of famous stores, each with its own style, covering clothing, jewelry, shoes, watches, bags, cosmetics, and more. The familiar Chow Tai Fook is on the 1st floor of The Londoner, with many co-branded gold jewelry. Marvel, Disney Mickey series, princess series—which one do you like?
On the 2nd floor of The Londoner, Shop 2227, there is a large 24-hour convenience store called Noble Mart. One of the joys of staying in a hotel is lounging on the sofa watching TV while eating snacks. This supermarket has many Japanese snacks and other imported foods. Compared with ordinary supermarkets, the price is certainly higher, but it's within my acceptable range. Since I rarely go out to play, I naturally treat myself well.
Various chips, instant foods, cookies, candies—dazzling—and cola too. How can you buy chips without cola!
Traveling to Macau in January was a wise decision. The four shopping malls under Sands have many promotional activities, allowing me, who is not very wealthy, to buy freely. Besides experiencing the prosperity of Macau, I also enjoyed exotic atmosphere on this trip. While staying at The Parisian Macao and enjoying excellent service, I also learned a lot about French history. A trip with good food, drink, and fun is rare. This Macau trip holds irreplaceable significance. I am already looking forward to my next encounter with Macau.
