"Mysterious Ocean" Exhibition
Exhibition Center ? Hall 2
March 26, 2021 – September 26, 2021
The "Mysterious Ocean" exhibition currently held in Exhibition Center Hall 2 was created and designed by the American Museum of Natural History. It features strange creatures from shallow to deep seas, allowing you to step into the ocean world step by step and immerse yourself in it.
According to the visitor guide, the entire hall is roughly divided into 9 zones, including: Fantastic Drifters, Mysterious Creatures, Meet the Giant Creatures, Deep Ocean, Invisible Boundaries, Abundant Ocean, and Mirror Sea Past and Present, showcasing over 30 exhibits.
Zone 2 - Fantastic Drifters
This zone introduces and helps you understand plankton. As the name suggests, plankton are small aquatic organisms that can only drift with the currents, unable to control their own movement. Seemingly insignificant, they actually play an important role and are truly fascinating creatures!
Zone 3 - Mysterious Creatures X Zone 4 - Meet the Giant Creatures
Here you can see super dreamy fluorescent fish! There are also giant sea creatures at a stunning 1:1 real scale. Sitting in front of a 180-degree curved screen, you can indulge in this tranquil blue, as if you are at the bottom of the sea with them.
Zone 5 - Dive into the Deep Ocean
There is a small sand table that both adults and kids love to play with. Various terrain and ocean current models combined with lighting effects look incredibly cool.
Zone 6 - Invisible Boundaries X Zone 7 - Abundant Ocean
[Science Theater]
In order to provide a deeper way to reflect and discuss, they hold regular science theater performances. If interested, remember to check the show schedule and go watch!
There are also two super cool interactive games: fish "swim" on the floor, and visitors can chase and interact with them; there is also a device that simulates diving into the deep sea, giving you a more intuitive sense of the ocean's wonder and charm!
Zone 8 - Next Generation X Zone 9 - Mirror Sea Past and Present
At the end of the exhibition, we return to Macau's local roots. Using AR augmented reality interactive methods, it introduces the fishing industry of old Macau, common local seafood, Macau's sea areas, sailing routes, and changes in land area. It immerses visitors in a dynamic journey, exploring the Macau we are most familiar with, and further revealing the intimate relationship between humans and the ocean.
Planetarium ? Dome Film
"Oceans: The Blue Planet"
The newly upgraded planetarium uses the latest pure laser projection technology, paired with the latest active 3D glasses. The entire show lasts 25 minutes, from the majestic Antarctic glaciers to the colorful tropical seabed. I have to say, the effect is truly stunning, full of creativity!
There are also other different films to choose from. You can select according to your preference; the effects are also excellent!
- End ? A Wonderful Day -
At the end of the day, you can take photos at the heart-shaped tree symbolizing happiness outside the planetarium! As the most treasured photo spot of the Macau Science Center, it offers a sea view in the background, with brilliant sunshine, swaying green trees, and sparkling water. No matter how you shoot, you'll get a stunning photo! Hurry up and go check it out!
