Macau Travel Practical Guide: What to Prepare for a Trip to Macau Now? Where to Check In and Have Fun?
April, with pleasant spring scenery, I set off from my small northern city and fly to Zhuhai in the south, taking only three hours. This time, my travel plan is to spend three days and two nights in Macau. Last month, I drove along the Sichuan-Tibet Highway for 15 days. This month, I want to slow down my travel pace and enjoy the leisurely lifestyle of Macau.
In the past two years, for those who love traveling, since we cannot travel abroad, we might as well deeply explore our domestic destinations. Macau tourism has recently become very popular, but for many people, Macau still feels unfamiliar. What documents do you need to prepare for a trip to Macau now? What are the fun, delicious, and interesting places to visit in Macau? I have been in Macau for the past two days and have compiled a practical guide to Macau tourism from my own experience, sharing it with you unreservedly.
As an international free port, Macau has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years, becoming more prosperous than before. It is a successful example of "one country, two systems." Tourism and the entertainment industry make many people both excited and a bit puzzled about visiting Macau. When I posted online that I was coming to Macau, many people's first reaction was still: quarantine!
But actually, there is no need for quarantine when visiting Macau now, and there are many direct flights to Macau. My departure city is Shijiazhuang, so I need to fly to Zhuhai first and then cross the border into Macau.
Preparation before departure: First, a Mainland China Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau (with a valid endorsement). Endorsements now need to be processed in person, and it usually takes three working days to issue. Just plan the visa processing time before your trip. Second, a paper negative nucleic acid test result. When entering Macau, customs may randomly check it, but when leaving Macau, it must be checked, so it is very important. Third, the health code of your departure city. Fourth, Macau health code.
Before departure, I had already booked a room at Wynn Palace. After landing in Zhuhai, Wynn Palace provided airport pickup service. When I walked out of the airport, a staff member was waiting for me at the exit. It took about an hour from Zhuhai to Macau. After arriving at the Hengqin Port, I took my luggage and went through customs, while the driver waited for me at the exit of the customs building. During the journey, I could fill in the Macau health code, which would make the customs clearance process a bit faster.
For accommodation in Macau, I chose Wynn Palace on the recommendation of a friend. My experience of three days and two nights was very pleasant, and in the future, it will be my first choice for trips to Macau. Wynn Palace has over a dozen restaurants offering various cuisines, allowing you to choose freely. Whether you go shopping or sightseeing, it is convenient to get around. The hotel's sky tram is free to ride, offering a panoramic view of the entire Wynn Palace. The tram runs until 10 p.m.
Traveling in Macau is all about slowing down. Wynn Palace has everything you need for dining, entertainment, shopping, and recreation. This time, I experienced three restaurants: Wing Lei, Wynn Steakhouse, and Sichuan Moon, and also enjoyed the service of having breakfast delivered to my room.
Macau's tourism industry is mature, with free Wi-Fi coverage throughout the city. You can also purchase your own mobile data package for added convenience.
Must-visit places in Macau: Rua do Cunha, Ruins of St. Paul, Fisherman's Wharf, Guia Lighthouse, and the Taipa Houses–Museum. From Wynn Palace to Rua do Cunha, a taxi costs about 40 MOP. If you are not in a hurry, a leisurely walk is also convenient. Rua do Cunha has many authentic Macau snacks, and you can also buy Macau specialty souvenirs, such as Fong Kei's almond cookies, which are very famous.
For shopping in Macau, I recommend following the Macau Government Tourism Office's WeChat official account. When you spend over 100 MOP, you can receive four 10 MOP discount vouchers. Each voucher can be used for purchases over 50 MOP, and each person can receive up to 60 vouchers. They can be used for various shopping purposes.
Traveling to Macau is now convenient and fun. While the spring scenery is still fine, why not set off?
