A Guide to The Londoner Macao: Dining, Entertainment & Shopping All in One
With pandemic control well implemented, many destinations are reviving their tourism. People cooped up at home are craving a wild trip. As someone who's been there, I tell you: if you want a short overseas escape, Macao is absolutely the best choice. To boost the local tourism economy, Macao authorities have rolled out all sorts of discount vouchers, especially for hotels. Take The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao, Conrad Macau, Sheraton Grand Macao, and The St. Regis Macao under Sands China for example. Not only are there jaw-dropping hotel package deals, but their iconic shopping malls also offer tons of discounts, and you can even snatch 50% off coupons online. How could I miss such a great opportunity? I had a blast and also put together this guide for you. You're welcome!
Anyone who's been to Macao knows that hotels here are far more than just a place to sleep. Shopping malls, gourmet restaurants, and entertainment are all standard. Take The Londoner Macao where I stayed. It's newly opened, and its luxury rivals that of established high-end hotels. The style is distinctive—classic yet sophisticated British. Inside, there's a shopping center, dining options, an entertainment kingdom, plus a pool and gym. Facilities are diverse and complete. The staff are highly professional and deliver top-notch service!
The hotel has many photo-worthy spots, such as the Big Ben at the entrance and the outdoor phone booths on the rooftop. These quirky British touches make exploring feel like a treasure hunt. The most stunning place for me was the Crystal Palace. It's incredibly grand, designed in Victorian style, making you feel like you're on a London street. In the center of the lobby is a 1:1 replica of the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain and the statue of Anteros, topped with crystal glass. You can snap an amazing photoshoot here in minutes.
Churchill's is definitely on the must-visit restaurant list in Macao. Not to mention how tempting the afternoon tea is, the restaurant's decor alone makes you want to snap photos. Unlike bright, fresh styles, this place exudes an elegant, moody ambience; everything feels sophisticated and refined.
The white peach piggy bank dessert is adorable, with rich vanilla cream. One bite and you can't stop.
The steak sandwich's bread is a bit like a baguette, not too soft, filled with tender beef and fresh veggies.
Their signature English roast beef is perfectly portioned for one, accompanied by other dishes, and looks very hearty.
Now that we've covered food and fun, let's talk about accommodation. The hotel has a wide variety of suites. It's said that the top-floor suites were co-designed and endorsed by David Beckham. Beckham fans, what are you waiting for? Take advantage of the short May Day holiday and check into your idol's suite! We stayed in the Louis Suite, which is huge—almost too luxurious for two people. The room is well-equipped. As a TV series lover, I adored the giant screens in the living room and bedroom. So satisfying to watch!
Don't know where to stroll after a meal? How about shopping while you digest? The renovated Londoner Court shopping mall brings together many stylish boutiques. With a wide range of brands and great prices, the mall's decor is also a feast for the eyes. Giant phone booths and teacups make perfect photo spots. Let loose and take playful, cute pics—post them on your social media and you'll definitely get some attention!
Buy gold, buy gold, buy gold—let's chant it! The post-90s generation has jumped on the gold-buying trend; after all, gold holds its value. I browsed several jewelry stores at Londoner Court and finally found Luk Fook Jewellery, which was on sale. Designated gold-priced jewelry was up to 25% off! There were all kinds of gold necklaces, bracelets, and bangles. The designs weren't tacky at all; wearing them actually makes you look elegant.
The staff were super friendly. They took out anything I was interested in and patiently helped me try it on. Even though I'm single, they happily showed me the traditional three gold pieces for weddings. That was really touching.
There are plenty of hidden gems at Londoner Court. Besides apparel, bags, shoes, and daily essentials, there are also many foods you can't find elsewhere. Lady M, the cake brand from New York, is known as the 'Hermès of cakes.' True or not? I had to verify for myself!
The shop wasn't crowded and had a quiet atmosphere, perfect for reading—haha. The display cases were filled with colorful cakes that looked too pretty to eat, with many flavors.
I recommend two signature cakes: First, the original mille crêpes. It melts in your mouth, sweet and delicate. Second, the matcha mille crêpes, with a strong tea flavor, just the right sweetness, and no bitterness from the matcha.
They also have a good variety of drinks. This chocolate coffee was especially invigorating, rich in aroma and full-bodied.
Shop 2206 on the 2nd floor of Londoner Court is a Portuguese restaurant called Chiado. It opens at noon and serves both lunch and dinner. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, with elegant, vintage decor and a dark color scheme that strangely calms your restless mind.
Their starry-sky plates are gorgeous. I asked the server where they bought them and learned they were custom-made—truly unique. Before the meal, they brought a complimentary bread basket.
Must-order dishes: seared tuna slices, lobster seafood rice, 24-hour slow-cooked suckling pig, and roasted lamb loin. Each dish is unforgettable.
From Londoner Court, you can walk through connected passages directly to the nearby Grand Canal Shoppes, Parisian Court, and Shoppes at Four Seasons. These four shopping complexes are linked, with over 800 brand stores to explore, plus several duty-free shops tempting you to splurge.
DFA is a popular duty-free store inside the Grand Canal Shoppes. It has many authentic big brands, a wide product range, frequent promotions, and great prices. Shoppers here are bound to return with bags full. If you're unsure about current offers, ask the staff—when we visited, many designated items were on sale.
IZZUE at shop 948 on the third floor of Grand Canal Shoppes also launched a spring promotion: 30% off when you buy three selected spring new arrivals. Don't underestimate a 30% discount—it adds up and might even save you a flight ticket!
The clothes are quite unisex, suitable for both men and women. The designs are eclectic. Some early spring hoodies are really nice; wearing them made me feel years younger!
I used to dream of strolling down a chic Parisian street; I didn't expect to realize that dream in Macao. The Parisian Court feels like the Champs-Élysées brought to life. Along the walkways, besides flagship stores, there are many decorations full of French flair. My heart kept pounding with the word 'romance'.
Milk tea addicts, gather here! The newly opened Heytea shop has a spacious interior. My friend and I had our first ice cream of the summer here.
T lab is a trendy toy store that gathers superhero merchandise and some pop-culture art pieces, located at shop 532 on the Champs-Élysées Street, 5th floor of the Parisian Court. If you're a Marvel fan, you might freeze in front of its window. Seeing these figurines brings movie scenes to mind.
The 1:1 scale Captain America movie shield—so cool! There are many other cute and stylish figurines. It doesn't matter if you buy them; just browsing is rewarding.
Before coming to Macao, a friend asked me to bring back a Longines watch. Afraid I'd get lost in fun and forget this important task, I set a reminder on my phone. I still remember being obsessed with Longines' Moonphase collection; after finally getting one through a friend, I couldn't bear to wear it.
They have a wide range of styles, with plenty of choices for dials and straps. Some models suit both men and women well.
The final stop of our shopping journey was the famous Shoppes at Four Seasons. A visit here is bound to drain your wallet. But compared to luxury boutiques on the mainland, the exchange rate advantage and discounts here are appealing. Now, time to test your brand knowledge: how many of these luxury stores do you recognize?
I didn't know the name of this shop until my friend told me: Van Cleef & Arpels, a century-old French jewelry and watch brand. Store after store of luxury names made me feel the pressure. I really wanted to go in and browse, but I was worried I'd fall for something and my wallet couldn't handle it. Sigh.
Before stepping into Dior, I did some mental math and realized I could still treat myself to a designer bag. Dior's bags are beautifully crafted, stylish, and within my budget. Inside, I wandered around, and soon a sales associate offered one-on-one service. The service was sincere throughout, and they answered every question I had.
Whether it's for daily outings, work, business trips, or big events, Dior's wide selection meets your needs. Another plus of buying a designer bag: it's less likely to be the same as someone else's, haha.
On this trip, though we stayed at The Londoner Macao, our activities extended beyond it to several nearby hotels. If you're coming to Macao specifically for shopping, be sure to hit the four shopping centers I've shared. The May Day holiday is coming soon, and many retailers will launch new promotions. Come and snag some deals!
