Shopping in Macau with My Bestie: A Pro's Guide to the Sands' Resorts
Is there someone who will cry with you, laugh with you, be crazy with you, and travel with you? Did you think I was talking about a boyfriend? Not at all, it's my bestie! We grew up together, and after graduation, we chose to work hard in the same city. This time, I went to Macau for a shopping spree, and she came with me—well, she also wanted to shop, hehe. Since we still can't travel abroad due to the pandemic, Macau, known as a shopping paradise, became the only choice. The epidemic prevention here is excellent, and it's safe. Before coming, besides necessary documents, remember to prepare a nucleic acid test report valid within 7 days. It might be crowded during holidays, so you can check out suitable hotels in Macau in advance. My bestie and I split up to search for hotel deals and finally set our sights on the Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao, Conrad Macao, Sheraton Grand Macao, and St. Regis Macao—all under Sands China. These luxury hotels are close to each other and have thriving commercial areas, with multiple indoor shopping malls, perfect for our shopping-oriented trip.
I had heard that The Parisian Macao exudes elegance, a large resort combining accommodation, shopping, dining, and entertainment. But seeing it in person still made my heart skip a beat. The replica Eiffel Tower stands right at the hotel entrance, and across the street is the Parisian Gardens with a huge lawn. On good days, many locals come here for picnics and family activities—the garden is lively.
The Champagne Suite is the most ethereal and tasteful suite I've ever stayed in. The room is dominated by clean white, creating an elegant, understated luxury with a touch of sophistication. From the entrance, there's a large mirror perfect for full-body shots. My bestie and I struck various poses, finding different angles, and the photos made our legs look long without being fake, haha.
Besides the master bedroom and living room that made us say 'OMG,' the other functional areas were creatively designed, balancing aesthetics and practicality. For girls, a vanity table is essential. The Parisian really understands what girls want—the mirror in the dressing room comes with built-in lights, making me feel like my makeup skills improved.
The hotel offers breakfast service, but you need to purchase a package when booking. That way, you can enjoy a delicate and delicious breakfast. Pulling open the curtains, you can also enjoy the view of the Eiffel Tower.
If you have enough time, I suggest you don't go shopping right away. Slow down, first explore the hotel, familiarize yourself with the routes, and get a good night's rest. The next day, you'll be full of energy to shop till you drop! Now, let me share our shopping route. First up is naturally The Parisian Shopping Mall, where most stores are designer brands or multi-brand stores like J's. Before entering J's duty-free store, make a list, check the discounts for each brand, and stock up on skincare and cosmetics for a year. The total will be much cheaper than at mainland counters—even cheaper than daigou prices!
Gold holds its value! Gold holds its value! Gold holds its value! Important things must be said three times! Luk Fook Jewellery is also worth a visit, with exquisite craftsmanship and many styles. Full sets of gold and jewelry in the cabinets are mouthwatering but out of my budget. If you want to buy gold, I suggest you buy early. We happened to catch a promotion where certain fixed-price gold jewelry was up to 25% off. Promotions don't wait—first come, first served.
Sapphires and emeralds exude luxury. You can try on diamond rings—the cut surfaces are very smooth, and the diamonds have good color.
MSGM's summer T-shirts seem to come in all the colors of the rainbow—vibrant and pretty. Although the styles look similar, there are differences: the logo watermarks and positions vary. They had a promotion, so we bought several to rotate in our wardrobe and also to enjoy discounts. Specific offers: Spend MOP 5,000 on selected regular-priced items for 12% off; spend MOP 5,000 on selected sale items for an extra 5% off.
After shopping until we were tired, we found seats at Le Jardin to rest and chat with friends—a spiritual journey.
For dinner, we settled on Palace Garden. Classic Cantonese cuisine that never tires you. The restaurant is quiet and elegant, with various seating options—ideal for couples, group dinners, or company events. Besides tables for two or four, there are also private rooms.
Appetizers: pickled cherry tomatoes, sweet and sour, refreshing and cold. The modified ginger-and-scallion beef rice rolls—great!
Honey yuzu crispy shredded chicken—I fell in love with the skin, crispy and fragrant. Beneath the chicken is a layer of yuzu, balancing the saltiness. Crispy wild rice, thick soup with fresh crab meat and scallops over rice—generous ingredients, a bit pricey but worth it!
Mango pomelo sago with lots of fruit, served in a big bowl—too much to finish if you have a small appetite.
Macau's epidemic prevention is very good. Feel free to come during May Day—I've already scouted it out for you. I originally planned to visit The Londoner Macao to see the Crystal Palace's grandeur, shop a bit, and take photos for my parents. Unexpectedly, I ran into Deng Lun, Guo Jingfei, and Wang Xun filming the variety show 'Go Fighting!'—what great luck! Deng Lun's aura is amazing; he looks good even in passerby shots.
Stay rational like me when it comes to fans. If you meet your idol, just take a few photos—everyone has their own things to do. For me, it was time to check out Lady M cake shop! My friend said I'm a fake fan—standing in front of my idol but thinking about food.
Eating sweets when in a bad mood really can turn 'rainy days' into 'sunny ones.' Lady M has a quiet environment and a wide variety of cakes. The Earl Grey mille crêpes and coconut mille crêpes each have their merits. Share with friends to try more flavors.
We shopped at The Londoner until afternoon, and it was dinner time. Since we had pre-booked the Parisian Buffet, we leisurely walked back from The Londoner to The Parisian. Entering the restaurant, we saw many guests already seated, and the staff were working orderly. The host seated us and wished us a pleasant meal.
A window seat offered a nice view of the hotel exterior—good location!
For seafood all-you-can-eat, the Parisian Buffet offers the best value. Unlimited seafood with a wide variety! Besides the seafood station, there are fruit and vegetable stations, dessert and cake stations, hot food stations, and drink stations.
The baked Boston lobster with cheese was hard to grab—chef brought it out and it was gone instantly. We managed to snag two and savored them slowly! The seafood was very fresh, all ingredients were of high quality. The salmon was bouncy—we had to go back for more!
When your schedule is well-planned each day, time doesn't feel slow. Today, we visited the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Macao. The scenery was beautiful—the seemingly endless blue sky is actually an artificial sky dome, looking like a paradise.
The queue outside Lord Stow's Bakery kept forming and dispersing, serving countless customers daily. Their Portuguese egg tarts are famous—a must-eat for anyone visiting Macau. When it was finally our turn, luckily there were seats inside, so we could rest and enjoy the hard-earned tarts.
The tarts were freshly baked, emitting an irresistible milky aroma. The golden exterior looked delicious. Crispy outside, soft inside, with smooth egg custard—quite different from regular egg tarts I've had, with richer texture and perfect sweetness.
This flat white coffee was priced similarly to mainland China, but the taste was slightly better than what I've had before. We even packed a box to take back as a late-night snack, hehe.
The Grand Canal Shoppes have many stores covering almost all categories at reasonable prices, making it a family-friendly mall. Since there are too many stores, I can only recommend a few good ones to get you started. Those interested can come to Macau and enjoy shopping freely!
The first is Skechers. Their shoes, whether for kids or seniors, focus on comfort while keeping up with modern designs. Many young people love their dad shoes—I'm one of them; the various color combinations are irresistible!
Another sportswear brand is FILA from Italy. They have many new spring/summer styles—time to indulge and refresh your wardrobe.
From the Grand Canal Shoppes, there's an entrance directly to the Four Seasons Shops. This is the best place to check out luxury goods. The mall itself has simple decor, but it's filled with big names: Cartier, FENDI, Dior, etc., covering jewelry, bags, and clothing. As long as you have the money, you can find the latest items!
Every time Dior releases new products, I marvel at the designers' ideas—they are so my style! The Dior store in Four Seasons Shops looked spacious, and inside it was very roomy. Clothes, bags, and shoes were neatly displayed.
Loewe had a wide variety of bag styles and models, each unique. Carrying them changed my entire aura. The salesperson patiently showed us several bags and shared tips on bag maintenance in a gentle tone.
Shopping in Macau with my bestie—two words: satisfying! Buy what you like as long as it's within budget. I haven't gone on such a shopping spree in a long time. Every night before bed, I'd take stock of the day's haul. Besides thanking my bestie for her company, I'm grateful to The Parisian Macao for its comprehensive service, which allowed us to enjoy many perks. Ladies, choosing a hotel is an art. If you can't master it, just get my choice!
