I often tell people that Macau is just so, so, so delicious! Anyone who knows Cantonese cuisine knows Macau is every bit as good as Hong Kong, with better value for money and a blend of East and West flavors. Not to mention this trip I made specifically to eat—even on ordinary trips, there hasn't been a single time I didn't waddle back stuffed, haha.

Let me put together a serious Macau food guide for everyone!

Address: 6th Floor, Eiffel Tower, The Parisian Macao

As I've said, La Chine in the Eiffel Tower is well worth a visit—romantic, refined, and you can totally pretend you're in Paris.

The restaurant retains the original steel framework of the tower, making for great photos.

Many people go to La Chine not for the food but for the photos, haha—it's a super popular Instagram spot. The glass walkway leading into the tower is also perfect for snapping pictures.

If you order wisely, the dishes at La Chine offer decent value. A friend of mine went with another person, spent over 700 MOP (including a big lobster), and still couldn't finish everything—they took a lot home as leftovers. But if you're dining alone or want to try all the signature dishes, just go for the 888 MOP set menu.

South African Ice Plant Salad with Sea Urchin and牡丹虾 (Paeonia shrimp), French Hawthorn Foie Gras with Gingerbread, Chilled Strawberry and Osmanthus with Chinese Yam… Hard-to-find ingredients, artful plating. At a restaurant like this, you're not here for a heavy meat feast—you're here for that refined elegance.

The signature dish of La Chine, Pan-Seared Wagyu with Morel Mushroom Sauce, embodies the high-end restaurant vibe. A5 Japanese Kagoshima fatty beef, with perfect marbling and pink center—one gentle cut and it melts on your tongue with a subtle fattiness.

La Chine's classic desserts are very Cantonese: Handmade Egg White and Bird's Nest Almond Tea with Hawaiian Papaya Pastry, and a flowing salted egg yolk black sesame ball. The almond tea carries the smooth, light texture of bird's nest, paired with a sesame ball bursting with creamy egg yolk—the sweetness is balanced, just right.

Address: 1st Floor, The Londoner Macao

The newly opened Londoner Macao—I strongly suggest you visit even if you're not staying there; it really has a London vibe. On the left side of the ground floor lobby is the new Instagram hotspot, Churchill's Table. You can snap high-class photos like countless Xiaohongshu bloggers.

Afternoon tea is a full-on Instagram hit, with English gentlemen and ladies accompanying you, and sometimes even the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland (they have an immersive Wonderland Tea Party!). And it's all in my favorite mint green color!

I had lunch and a buffet breakfast here. The breakfast was quite rich, like having Cantonese morning tea in London, haha.

No matter how nice the restaurant looks, you go for the food. Lunch was very good. When they brought out the tin bread box, wow—it was even more retro than London.

We ordered a big table of dishes, and every one was great. I highly recommend the British national dish: fish and chips. The fries were soft inside and crispy outside; when I cut into the fish, the aroma rushed straight to my nose. I don't quite understand the British love for this national dish, but after a whole table of food, this was my favorite.

Another dish was the baked beef marrow. Some might find it a bit greasy, but others like me will call it heaven! Split open beef bone, thick collagen inside—scoop a little, spread it on a crunchy Guinness bread toast, and the rich flavor bursts out.

The funniest part was when the waiter brought the roast duck to the table—a huge duck presented right in front of us: "Want to take a photo before I cut it?" Haha, that's the essential quality of an Instagram restaurant—they know everyone wants to snap and post to their Moments.

Address: 1st Floor, St. Regis Hotel, Cotai

The Manor is inside the St. Regis Macao, which I really like, and it offers great value. Last year I had a 788 MOP six-course set meal (including service charge). All the ingredients were rare and precious.

Plating like an undersea world—Hokkaido scallops with foam on top. The foam is actually roasted fish bone soup. After eating the huge scallop, don't miss the delicious foamy broth. You can either drink it straight from the scallop shell or dip bread into it.

Spanish red shrimp is the most expensive and hardest to find—the meat is watery. Bite gently into the head, and a burst of savory juice flows into your mouth.

At first, I thought the name "Roasted Australian Antarctic Toothfish" was strange—where exactly is that? Australia and Antarctica? Actually, Australian fishermen go to Antarctica under government supervision at a fixed time each year to catch toothfish, known as the aristocrat of silver cod. The flesh is tender and rich in oil. Dip it in squid ink and crispy Portuguese sausage bread cubes—it feels like swimming in Antarctica!

Address: 1st Floor, Studio City Casino

Bicho do Mato is open 24 hours, right on the first floor of Studio City Hotel. Very convenient if you have kids—you can eat anytime. Last time I went, I waited two days to try their famous Macau Water Crab Porridge! The rice was cooked into a thick slurry, filled with the flavor of water crab—so fresh! Just writing about it makes my mouth water.

On this trip, I also tried Spanish black pork char siu at other restaurants, but whenever I think of the almost syrupy honey glaze coating the char siu at Bicho do Mato, it's hard to appreciate others. After all, that glossy texture alone is captivating.

Overall, the value at Bicho do Mato isn't exceptionally high, but you can hardly go wrong with anything you order.

Address: Shop 1193, 1F, Boulevard Shopping, Studio City

Zai Yun is a restaurant I personally really like. It has a nostalgic American feel—a true Instagram hit. With four differently colored car booths lined up, it's definitely the best place to take kids for a check-in.

American-style restaurants basically serve hot dogs, burgers, fries, etc., but last time I was blown away by their bacon cheese fries.

I don't usually like fries, but this basket of long, golden fries, with a big swirl of yogurt cheese and some bacon—absolutely amazing!

Address: 461, Rua Norte do Patane

Every time I go to Macau, I spend most of my time at hotels. This eating trip (a work-injury trip) took me purposely to some old streets and restaurants loved by locals. When I took a taxi from the hotel to Taishō, I suddenly forgot the address. The driver immediately guessed I was going to the original branch on Rua Norte do Patane. Then he asked me, "How did you have the courage to travel so far just for a restaurant?"

After thinking for a while, I told him, "I want to taste it so I can write about it."

Ah, no—for the deliciousness! I'm here to get a food coma! Haha~

Taishō really has a nostalgic Japanese feel. It's filled with collectibles from the 70s and 80s, packed tightly on the inner side.

Serious note: This place is all-you-can-eat! The handsome guy (I wonder if he'll ever see this article, haha) saw me dining alone and asked if I wanted photos. He took them very seriously, then kept bringing me dishes and even grilled them for me.

You read that right—I ate all this by myself! And the guy's photography skills are pretty good!

They have different tiers of all-you-can-eat. I recommend the most expensive one with wagyu, which is only over 300 MOP. But the wagyu cubes, oyster blade, ribeye, sirloin—every bite was full of meaty flavor. As soon as I took a bite, I regretted ordering other meats before.

I especially like their secret Taishō sauce—it doesn't overpower the meat's natural flavor but enhances the layers. The refreshing yuzu sauce is also good, very fresh. Six sauces, each with a different pairing.

It's so satisfying to watch the meat slowly lose its redness and release its aroma!

Another fun thing: you have to catch the prawns yourself. They're lively and jump around.

It took me a while to catch one, and I quickly asked the guy to take a photo. Haha, isn't it huge?

After grilling, when you open them, each is packed full of red roe—absolutely delicious.

When the guy saw I was almost done, he asked if I wanted ice cream and brought me a box of bananas and a skewer of marshmallows. "Ahh, I can't eat anymore!" "No problem, just try it—you always need some fruit after a meal." The grilled marshmallow was amazing—thin crispy shell with melted, stretchy center. Exquisite.

By the way, I once read that Chua Lam likes to eat Japanese food in Macau. Taishō's Japanese flavor is done to perfection—even all their drinks and beer are imported from Japan. All-you-can-eat-and-drink is too sinful—I got a food coma in one meal!

Address: 1F, Ascott Macau, Tian Zuan Building, Zona VIP

I visited Macau Peninsula twice and found buses convenient and cheap. So I checked Baidu Maps, walked down from Ruins of St. Paul via the炮台斜巷 (Fortress Slope), changed to a bus, and went to Shun Xuan opposite MGM Macau. (If you're staying at MGM Macau on the Peninsula, definitely consider this place!)

The restaurant was full of locals. At noon, no one was having hotpot—they were either having morning tea or, like me, ordering a few classic dishes (I ordered a 200+ MOP set from Ctrip Gourmet List).

This pot of Fish Maw and Conch Kung Fu Soup absolutely amazed me! When they brought the teacup, I wondered, "Didn't they already serve pu'er tea?"

When I opened it—black chicken, fish maw, conch slices… plenty of ingredients. Like drinking tea, I poured a small cup, drank it hot, and a slightly sweet, savory aroma filled my mouth. I scooped with a spoon—oh, there were longan inside, hence the faint sweetness. Cup after cup until the teapot was empty—it was true Kung Fu soup, no doubt!

Other dishes—Charcoal-Grilled Spanish Black Pork, Steamed Boneless Crucian Carp with Vegetables and Crispy Bamboo Shoots—were tasty, but paled in comparison to the Kung Fu soup, haha.

By the way, the walls are covered with photos of celebrities!

Address: 9A, Rua do Cunha

Rua do Cunha is a must-visit food street. In my opinion, the best part is the colorful Portuguese architecture. It looks great in photos no matter how you shoot.

Durian lovers must try Mok Yi Kei. The Musang King durian ice cream is phenomenal—one taste feels like slurping a big chunk of durian. They earned a silver award on Ctrip Gourmet List, well-deserved—even their sugarcane juice is sweet and refreshing, made with quality ingredients.

Address: 1, Travessa de Tassara, Centro, Coloane

My first trip to Macau was in 2003, a group tour. When we went to Coloane, the guide got off to buy everyone authentic Portuguese egg tarts. Now I think it must have been this unassuming Lord Stow's Bakery. It's a must-visit when exploring Coloane, located at a corner.

The "Portuguese egg tart" we often talk about actually originated from this shop, introduced to Macau by British Andrew Stow in 1989 and later popularized worldwide. (Haha, a Brit making Portuguese egg tarts in Macau—what a strange twist!)

I remember eating them hot, wrapped in napkins—not too sweet, not too greasy, unforgettable. Later, I sat on a bench by the sea with an egg tart. I realized that behind me was actually the Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel in Zhuhai. So close!

Address: 2nd Floor, Macau International Airport Terminal

Finally, a bonus for you. This time when I returned to Shanghai from Macau, my flight was delayed by 4 hours at the airport. What else could I do besides write? Seriously!

In the end, I thought, why not have a meal before boarding to add more material for this article? I found an old brand, Guangfuchao, on the 2nd floor. I checked online—very good! Go eat!

See? This full bowl of oyster vermicelli costs only about 40 RMB, and it's at the airport—such value!

The fried garlic sprinkled in the soup gave the whole bowl a slight spicy kick. Each oyster was fresh and tender. Even the lettuce soaked in the oyster broth was not to be wasted.

You can choose rice noodles or wheat noodles, but I think the best choice is the original Chaozhou vermicelli—just the right thickness, not broken, not messy, perfect texture.

Macau is really a small place, but this small Macau can make you eat to your heart's content. I haven't even tried Portuguese cuisine outside properly yet. If I add that, this article could go on for days and nights.

What other delicious restaurants have you tried? Feel free to leave a recommendation for me. Mwah~
