Coastal Journey: Zhongshan, Zhuhai, and Macau
The success of the Hong Kong independent trip boosted our confidence in self-driving independent travel. On the evening of the 26th, we returned to Shenzhen by bus and stayed at a hotel in the Real Estate Building near Renmin South Road. After breakfast on the 27th, we left Shenzhen to continue our coastal journey. Originally we planned to go to Guangzhou after leaving Shenzhen, but considering the approaching holiday, we changed plans and went directly to Zhongshan and then to Zhuhai, planning to stay in Zhuhai and then take an independent trip to Macau.
In Zhongshan, we visited Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Former Residence, the Memorial Hall, and the CCTV Zhongshan Film and Television Base, as well as Martyr Yang Yin's Former Residence. That day we rushed to Zhuhai and stayed at Shanhai Hotel.
On the morning of the 28th, we parked our self-driving car in the designated parking lot of the hotel, then took a bus to Gongbei Border Checkpoint. After passing through customs, we entered Macau. At that time, we couldn't find the shuttle buses from the big hotels as introduced online. We saw a bus heading to the Ruins of St. Paul's, paid for 4 tickets via Alipay on our phones (6 MOP each), took the bus, and then walked around. Because it was raining, we kept stopping and starting, but fortunately many shopping places were indoors, so it didn't affect us much. During the tour, we saw a shuttle bus from the Venetian Hotel, and the rest of the trip became easier. We took hotel shuttles to visit related attractions, and finally took a hotel shuttle back to the customs checkpoint. That day we returned to Macau, fulfilling our wish of an independent trip to Macau.
