Spice Curry Evolving on Its Own Is Super Hot! The Best Curry Is in Osaka.
● Introducing Osaka's amazingly delicious curry
Because I love Japan, I came to Osaka. Everything I eat is delicious—what a delight! Korean cuisine here is even better than in my home country, Korea. The multi-layered, deep flavors that invite you to savor them slowly are wonderful☆ And now, spice curry is sweeping the food scene, overpowering Osaka's iconic dishes like takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and kushikatsu! In my imagination, curry looks simple, but actually it's presented gorgeously, each shop unique, and the tastes are completely different.
● "Khaos Spice Diner": A Multicultural Vibe
This time I visited "Khaos Spice Diner" near Yotsubashi Station on the Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line. As soon as you get close to the shop, you can smell the aroma of spices—instantly my appetite soared!

Inside, lively background music plays, and the resort-style decor makes you feel like you're in a foreign country. Curry is usually either Indian or European-style, but at this shop, true to its name "Khaos," the curry is neither Indian nor European—it's a multicultural fusion.
● Gorgeous Visuals That Delight the Eye
The curry menu includes Khaos Keema Curry plus two weekly rotating curries, so three options total. You can choose which curries to combine, the type and amount of rice, and your favorite toppings.
I chose the three-curry platter (all types). For toppings, I picked the popular Gai yang (Thai-style sweet and spicy grilled chicken) and cilantro. For rice, I chose a mix of white rice and turmeric rice. Despite the surprisingly large portion, the stunning presentation—breaking the typical image of white rice and brown curry sauce—lifted my mood and appetite to MAX!
● Layered Spiciness and Perfect Spice Balance
Today's weekly rotation menu (updated on Thursdays) was butter chicken and ginger pork. Each had a distinct flavor, leaving a strong impression. Rather than eating them separately, I enjoyed the fresh taste when mixed together. The spices had depth and richness, and as I was deeply moved, I battled the waves of spiciness that hit me layer by layer.
With the richly seasoned Gai yang, it felt like the curry went beyond its usual boundaries. The tangy, pickled-like vegetables also added a perfect touch. I could enjoy different flavors without ever getting bored, and before I knew it, the plate was clean.
It's spicy at first, but the aftertaste is surprisingly refreshing, and you don't feel stuffed. GOOD☆ I definitely recommend this to curry lovers for lunch or dinner!
The Khaos Spice Diner Osaka location I visited is near America-mura, but there's another shop in the city: the Fukushima 3-chome store.
● Osaka Metro Spice Curry Pilgrimage Event Runs Until End of September
Osaka Metro is holding a "Spice Curry Pilgrimage Event" along its lines. It features 37 shops. At 30 of them, you can enjoy "Osaka Metro Special Curry." If you bring the flyer from the station, you can get discounts or collect special cards. Of course, there are many popular shops not listed, like Khaos Spice Diner which I introduced here. Why not go out and find your favorite spice curry?
