The Gathering Place of Osaka's Pop Culture

● The street of fashion trends — Osaka's Amerika-mura, a paradise for otaku.

In Amerika-mura, there is a shop called "MANDARAKE GRAND CHAOS" (with a red sign and white letters reading "まんだらけ"). It is a general store gathering a wide variety of items such as anime, manga, games, cosplay, idols, and more.

A dreamlike museum for otaku — treasure hunting at "MANDARAKE Grand Chaos" in Nipponbashi

First, outside the store, there is a long, loooooong row of manga bookshelves!!

Just seeing this gets your heart racing!

The store's striking red-and-white exterior is also very unique.

Stepping inside, you'll find anime and sentai series, Licca-chan dolls, and so on... various figures and anime merchandise densely displayed.

From the earlier Astro Boy to the currently popular One Piece, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and more — the products are countless!! It's like a cosmic mash-up!!

The store has four floors, all dedicated to the world of subculture — perfect!

The first floor is for shonen manga and figures.

The second floor mainly features games, cards, stickers, and retro cartoons that are out of print.

The third floor is for shojo manga, cosplay, adult magazines, and so on... Each floor sells different types of products.

If you tried to see everything from start to finish, you'd probably need a whole day! It's like a museum of pop culture. And the best part about this museum is that you can buy anything you want! (laughs)

The staff here are also very unique – sometimes they even cosplay!

Today, I happened to see staff cosplaying as Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto) and Dark Magician Girl (Yu-Gi-Oh!) ~?

Their cosplays — the costumes, wigs, and makeup — all incredibly resemble the characters! And those intense looks!! So cool!!

They say they're happy to chat with visitors, so feel free to strike up a conversation with your anime idols!

There are also staff who speak English and Chinese, so if you can't find a treasure you're looking for, you can ask them for help.
