Where can I wear it?
First, look for a shop that both rents and helps with dressing.
In the end, I found a shop near Dotonbori, convenient for sightseeing, called 'Wa NAGOMI', which offers a one-stop service for kimono rental, dressing, makeup, and hairstyling. The full set of services is affordably priced at 3,900 yen. Moreover, it is open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, so you can return the clothes late, which is very convenient.
The colorful patterns are captivating!
Upon entering the shop, there are rows and rows of colorful kimono!
Men's yukata are mostly blue or navy blue. Cedric chose a blue yukata. The yukata was a bit short for Cedric, and the shop staff said in Japanese, 'Not long enough, too tight,' but he couldn't wear his favorite pattern, which was a bit unfortunate...
He pulled himself together and chose a simple navy blue yukata this time. The shop staff praised him, saying, 'It suits you well!' and he seemed to feel better.
Then Yiyi picked up her favorite red-toned yukata and started comparing.
The shop staff suggested, 'How about trying a pattern that feels cooler?' She finally chose a white-based floral pattern. The yellow and pink flowers embellished it, making it very gorgeous. Then she tightly tied a red obi, had her hair styled to match the yukata, and even asked the staff to put on a hair accessory!
Let's Go Out on the Town!
Everything was a first, taking that step out, super happy♪
First time wearing a yukata, and first time wearing geta.
I had a feeling I'd never experienced before, my heart racing with excitement. After taking a few steps in the geta, I quickly got used to it.
This time, we strolled around the Dotonbori area and the Shinsaibashi Shopping Street.
Yiyi: Wearing a yukata makes me look cute, and I feel absolutely wonderful! I was a bit shy at first, but the stares from passersby also made me happy.
Cedric: I was surprised that the geta were actually easy to walk in. Wearing a yukata while exploring Osaka made the streets look even more beautiful, and my spirits soared!!
Streets suitable for wearing yukata
Along the way, we made a side trip to visit the Mizukake Fudo-son at Hozenji Yokocho. The atmospheric streets are perfect for wearing a yukata.
Cedric: I felt like I had become Japanese myself. The experience of visiting a shrine in a yukata for the first time was very mystical, and it was more exciting than ordinary sightseeing. I recommend giving it a try.
Yiyi: I had a great time. Even the popsicles I'm used to eating tasted better than usual. I'm also looking forward to the photos! Next time, I want to go see a fireworks display wearing a yukata!
