Tired of the 'Check-in' Style of Travel in Japan? A Leisurely Farm Stay Might Be More Your Speed
For those who frequently travel to Japan, the usual sightseeing and food tasting may no longer be satisfying.
Want something new? We recommend experiencing a 'farm stay' in Japan!
This time, we'll personally review what it's like to live a farmer's life in Japan.
Recommendation #1: Experience traditional Japanese accommodation
What sets farm stays apart from ordinary Japanese travel is the chance to experience real farmhouse living.
Touching the historic solid wood architecture feels like stepping into a Japanese TV drama.
Recommendation #2: Enjoy farm-to-table meals you prepare yourself
While staying at a farm, you can use freshly harvested ingredients to cook a variety of dishes.
During our stay at a farm in Shinshiro, Aichi Prefecture, we even got to make handmade pizza.
Kneading the pizza dough turned out to be much more tiring than expected~
After an hour of kneading and several hours of rising, the dough was finally ready.
In addition, we had to prepare the firewood for the oven ourselves.
After chopping wood, lighting the fire, and baking, it took about three hours before the handmade pizza was ready!
The pizza we made with our own hard work tasted even better than what we usually buy~
The photo below shows a local sweet called 'Gohei Mochi'.
Moreover, farm stays in Japan offer many seasonal delicacies, such as flowing somen noodles in summer, chestnuts in autumn, and mochi-making and handmade daifuku in winter.
You can also choose to make your own farm-style BBQ!
Recommendation #3: Experience the tranquil rural life in Japan
The daily grind of city life can be exhausting.
For those tired of bustling metropolises, heading to Japan's nature-rich countryside to enjoy fresh air and the sound of flowing streams is a great option.
Nights in the countryside are quiet and relaxing.
Most rural homes in Japan have tatami rooms. Surrounded by the scent of tatami, falling asleep to the sound of insects outside, your weary mind and body will find relief.
Throughout Japan, there are many farms offering lodging and activities. If you're tired of the usual city tours, why not try experiencing Japan's rural life?
*Note: Due to the pandemic, some farm stays may be temporarily closed. Please check the official website in advance~
