Diving into the "Dreamland"! My First Maid Cafe Experience @Maidreamin - Part 1

Hello everyone! I'm Sang Hun from South Korea.

The first time I traveled to Japan, I fell in love with the country. The people, the food, the culture... there are so many things I like about Japan.

Since I loved it so much, I ended up living in Japan for five years. This time, I finally ventured into a maid cafe, something I had always been curious about.

The one I visited is "Maid Cafe Maidreamin Nipponbashi Otaku Street," located in Nipponbashi.

It's about a 10-minute walk from the nearest station, "Nipponbashi Station" on the Osaka Metro Sennichimae Line and Sakaisuji Line.

When I actually got to the front of the shop, I was a bit nervous. But I mustered my courage and pushed open the door...

The maids spread their arms wide and welcomed me with great energy, "Welcome home, Master ♡." It felt so embarrassing.

"Master, is this your first time entering the country?"

"Y-yes..."

Seeing how nervous I was, one of the maids started talking to me and led me to a seat.

First, the maid introduced me to various aspects of this "Dreamland" and explained the rules.

To protect everyone's shared paradise, "Dreamland," Maidreamin has many rules.

For example, you cannot touch the maids, and you cannot take photos of the maids or other guests besides yourself.

Of course, asking for the maids' contact information or other privacy-related questions is also not allowed.

The pricing is also different from a regular cafe. The average cost is 770 yen per hour. Every hour, each person must order at least one food or drink item. While this rule is uncommon abroad, it's a rule of "Dreamland." Please follow it properly.

After the maid, "NANACHI-chan," finished explaining the rules, she said,

"Master, can you follow these promises? If yes, please make a circle with your fingers on your cheek and say 'OK nyaa ♡' "

"Huh, I have to do that too?? (That's what I thought inside...)"

"Ready! OK nya ♡"

Before I knew it, I found myself doing it too. (Laughs)

Although it was embarrassing, it was also fun, and I got excited!

Finally, I successfully entered the country! NANACHI-chan gave me a passport to "Dreamland"!

Then all the maids gathered around and performed the call I had always dreamed of hearing.

"Welcome home! Master ♡"

Oh my—so embarrassing! But it was really, really fun. The maids surrounding me, the whole atmosphere—it was gorgeous and got me even more excited. So now I'm also a member of "Dreamland."

Now, what should I order? Maidreamin has a very extensive menu of set options.

Since I came all the way here, I wanted to fully experience "Dreamland"! Not just eating, but also watching the maids' performances. So this time, I ordered the shop's recommended set.

The set (3,080 yen) includes many perks: the maid draws on the omelette rice, a photo together with a Polaroid camera, and merchandise. For an additional 330 yen, I could change my drink to a cocktail. Also, I wanted to see a live performance just for me, so I added the live performance set (1,320 yen). For just over 1,000 yen, I get a private live performance. Isn't that luxurious?

After ordering, the maids performed another call. "Happy Happy Dancing!"

By this point, I was gradually blending into "Dreamland." (Laughs)

When choosing a merchandise gift, I opted for bunny ears to enjoy the realm even more. This was my first time wearing them—do they look cute? Do they suit me?

Looking around at the other guests, they weren't all male—there were many female customers too. There were regulars visiting alone, groups of girls, and couples. Apparently, among the guests are women who want to relax after work and chat with the maids, and families bringing elementary school girls who idolize the maids. Everyone was chatting with the maids or asking them to do calls; everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves in their own way.

The four maids on duty were all very busy but served with smiles. They were all very attentive and worked hard to make the guests happy. They were amazing—I was truly impressed.

At that point, Mei-chan brought me the cocktail I had been looking forward to, "LOVE kakuteri-min."

After casting the magic spell to make it delicious, a brilliant blue cocktail was complete. It was super tasty. Being able to enjoy a proper cocktail at a maid cafe is pure bliss!

Next came the main dish, omelette rice. The maid skillfully used ketchup to draw on the beautifully cooked egg.

In the blink of an eye, she drew a cute little bear! Mei-chan is so talented! The drawing was wonderful.

Having put so much care into the drawing, I almost felt bad eating it.

But the taste was also very authentic. It wasn't just because of the magic spell to make it delicious.

In reality, the omelette rice is cooked by a cute female kitchen staff member called a "fairy." It had a comforting flavor, very delicate and smooth. It was really delicious, and I ate to my heart's content.

I'm already completely hooked on maid cafes. There's still dessert, a live performance, and more fun waiting for me!

The rest will be introduced in the next part. Please look forward to it ☆
