Long-awaited Osaka trip♪ Sightseeing, shopping, eating delicious food, etc., truly endless fun!

But travel always comes with anxiety and worry. The biggest headache is probably not being able to communicate with staff in stores or facilities, right?

Stations, airports, department stores, etc., more and more places offer multilingual services, but there are still many places and shops that don't.

A little helper to solve communication troubles like not being able to speak or understand is the Finger Guide from Osaka Metro NiNE! This tool only requires showing the screen of a smartphone or tablet to facilitate easy and smooth conversation.

Using it is super simple!

Tap the index finger icon that says "Finger Guide" at the bottom right of the home screen.

On a computer or tablet, it appears in the left sidebar.

It is divided into four scenarios: "Sightseeing", "Restaurants", "Accommodation", and "Shopping". You can choose the content you want to use. Then just select the illustration according to your purpose and show the screen to the other person!

Below, we introduce how to use it with real-life scenarios.

Not knowing how to get from your current station or hotel to a sightseeing spot or other destination – this is probably the most common situation. In such cases, use "Sightseeing" to express where you want to go.

(Example) Want to go to Dotonbori

① Tap "Sightseeing".

② Tap "Where I want to go", point to "Where I want to go".

③ Point to the illustration of Dotonbori. (Tap the illustration, it will be displayed in the center)

There are also illustrations of airports, tourist information centers, coin lockers, and many other places.

Or when you lose something, you can use "Problems"!

(Example) Lost passport

① Tap "Problems".

② Point to the illustration "Lost".

③ Point to the illustration "Passport".

With this, you don't have to worry about unexpected troubles! And it also includes frequently used phrases, so try using them together.

At restaurants without multilingual menus, it can be a pain not knowing what to order. In the "Restaurants" category, there are many illustrations you can use when ordering, such as size, taste, and ingredients♪ Tell the staff what dish you want to eat.

(Example) Want to eat soba noodles

① Tap "Restaurants".

② Tap "When ordering".

③ Point to the soba noodles illustration.

If you don't know what to choose, you can also ask the staff for recommendations!

● When checking in at a hotel

When checking in at a hotel, you might not know what to do.

In such cases, use the "Accommodation" illustrations to smoothly complete check-in.

① Tap "Accommodation".

② Tap "Check-in / Check-out".

③ Point to the illustration "Please help me check in".

Common phrases are also helpful♪

● When looking for products in a store

When buying gifts for yourself or selecting souvenirs, use the "Shopping" illustrations to tell the staff what you want!

(Example) Want to buy a bag

① Tap "Shopping".

② Tap "Items needed", point to "Items needed".

③ Point to the bag illustration.

Also, when paying, you can check if tax-free applies.

There are many more ways to use the Finger Guide!

We recommend adding it to your smartphone bookmarks or adding an icon to your home screen so you can use it smoothly in an emergency.

Please bring the Finger Guide on your Osaka trip and use it flexibly♪
