Japan's Vending Machines Get an Upgrade!? Baked Sweet Potatoes, Cake Jars, and Other Delicious and Cute Desserts Appear! ~Dessert Edition~
In the previous food edition, I introduced you to novel vending machines for dumplings, ramen, pressed sushi, and more. This time, I'd like to introduce you to sweet and delicious dessert vending machines that can be found near Osaka Metro stations ♪
Now, let me introduce four types of dessert vending machines in Osaka City, including chilled baked sweet potatoes and cake jars!
About a 5-minute walk from Higashiumeda Station, next to Oita Johnny Fried Chicken Higashiumeda Store, is the "Baked Sweet Potato Vending Machine (Naniwa Baked Sweet Potato Main Shop)"! The top tier sells "Chilled Baked Sweet Potatoes," the middle tier "Dried Sweet Potatoes," and the bottom tier "Dried Fruits."
The one that got me excited was the Silk Sweet chilled baked sweet potato. Look! This golden color of the baked sweet potato. The texture is smooth and melts in your mouth, bringing out the natural sweetness of the ingredient to the maximum. It's truly moving to be able to buy such a high-quality baked sweet potato from a vending machine.
By the way, it becomes sweeter when refrigerated, and since sweet potatoes are rich in water and easy to absorb, they are also an ideal choice for weight loss...! If you find delicious and healthy vending machine desserts, be sure to give them a try!
[Price] Chilled baked sweet potato: 400 yen to 600 yen
[Operating Hours] 24 hours (no regular holidays)
[Location] 1-7-12 Sonezaki, Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture
[Access] Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line "Higashiumeda Station"
About a 3-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station Exit 7, inside BIGSTEP in America Village, there is a "Cream Cake Jar" vending machine with cute illustrations. A total of eight dessert jars are sold, including the highly talked-about "Cream Cake Jar" on social media, as well as "Cream Cake Jar (Chocolate)," "Chestnut Mont Blanc Jar," "Chiffon Cream Cake Jar," "Pudding Jar," etc. ♪
It was a tough decision, but I bought the most popular "Cream Cake Jar"! When you open the lid, a sweet aroma greets you, with strawberries in the middle and a whole jar full of fluffy Hokkaido fresh cream! At first bite, it feels like a parfait, but after eating the almond florentine crisp and strawberries, it becomes a very authentic cream cake, like those sold in department stores. Although the price might seem a bit high, the portion is generous, and the key point is that the "jar cake" is a special and cute design, plus it's easy to carry around, making it a very attractive item!
[Price] Cream cake jar: 1,200 yen; others: 500 yen to 1,180 yen
[Operating Hours] 24 hours (no regular holidays)

Right outside the ticket gate at Nakamozu Station, there is a "Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice" vending machine. A delightful 100% fresh orange juice! Insert a 500 yen coin, and in about 40 seconds, you get freshly squeezed orange juice! The variety of oranges used changes with the season, so you can enjoy fresh orange juice made from different types of oranges throughout the year.
[Price] 500 yen

About a 1-minute walk from Daikokucho Station, there is a sweet potato dessert vending machine.
A total of eight kinds of desserts made with generous amounts of sweet potato are available, including chocolate pudding, sweet baked sweet potato, Basque cheesecake, red honey potato baked sweet potato, and more. There is also a "Lucky Set" that allows you to buy sweet potato desserts worth 1,200 yen for 1,000 yen. If you're not sure which to choose, this mixed set is highly recommended!
[Price] Various sweet potato desserts: 250 yen to 500 yen; Sweet potato dessert combo: 1,000 yen

┣Little Specialty Shop Pantograph Nishi-Umeda Station
At the south ticket gate exit of Nishi-Umeda Station, there is a little specialty shop called Pantograph with three vending machines lined up. These vending machines sell relatively rare items such as small-pack snacks, character goods, disinfectant, and hand towels.
[Location] In front of the south ticket gate of Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line "Nishi-Umeda Station"
Next to the northwest ticket gate at Nishi-Umeda Station, I discovered a diaper vending machine! It sells diapers (M/L size) and baby wipes. This should be very helpful when you're out with a baby and suddenly need these items.
[Location] Near Exit 7-A outside the south ticket gate of Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line "Nishi-Umeda Station"
Capsule toy vending machines are often seen inside Osaka Metro stations! They sell characters from popular anime and manga, as well as figures of popular Osaka entertainers, mini toys, and more.
Doritos, UNO, and beef bowls have become this small (lol). Japanese public phones are also mini size! Every item is small, but the details are exactly like the real thing, which is very appealing. Wouldn't they be perfect as souvenirs from your trip to Japan?
Following the food vending machines from the previous edition, this time I've introduced you to cute and delicious dessert vending machines as well as convenient and novel ones. What do you think?
When you see these novel vending machines in person, you'll exclaim, "It really exists!" — it's even more impressive than reading about them in articles or online! You can also drop by during your trip! If you're interested, why not use the Osaka Metro Enjoy Eco Card to go on a novel vending machine pilgrimage?
