Visit Osaka's Parks and Immerse Yourself in a World Like "The Rose of Versailles"!
Follow pictures to tour Osaka, the enchanting invitation of a light sweet scent...
Come to Osaka's parks and immerse yourself in a world like "The Rose of Versailles"!
In early summer, new greenery is vibrant, and all kinds of flowers are in full bloom. It's the perfect season for flower viewing. The pleasant weather before the rainy season makes the desire to go out even stronger!
In fact, roses can be enjoyed twice a year. The first season begins around May and can be enjoyed until June. The second season is around October when the summer heat subsides.
This time, we introduce two parks where roses bloom in full glory, accessible via Osaka Metro!
Osaka's first park
The Nakanoshima area is surrounded by rivers and has beautiful scenery. Nakanoshima Park, located in this area, was founded in 1891 and is Osaka's first park. Set against the backdrop of retro buildings such as Osaka City Central Public Hall and Osaka Prefectural Nakanoshima Library, riverboats shuttle back and forth, creating a resort-like atmosphere different from downtown Osaka. Although the park has a long history, it was renovated in 2009 and has become very beautiful!
Here there are 310 varieties of roses, about 3,700 plants! Just walking about 1.5 km within the park, you can enjoy colorful roses and an elegant atmosphere.
Next, we introduce Utsubo Park located in Honmachi. This is an elongated park about 800 m east-west. Naniwa-suji (road) running north-south divides the park into East and West Gardens, with the rose garden located in the East Garden. The park features waterfalls, streams, and fountains created using the undulating terrain. The roses and nature complement each other, and you can enjoy about 170 varieties and 3,400 rose plants.
This rose garden is considered one of the most beautiful in Japan, and even won the Excellent Garden Award at the World Rose Convention held in 2006!
In autumn, the "Utsubo Park Autumn Rose Festival 2020" is scheduled to be held here. The event will take place on October 10 (Sat) and 11 (Sun), the best blooming period (as planned as of April 2020). Details will be announced later, so be sure to check!
04 Autumn roses bloom even more beautifully
Spring roses are certainly beautiful and charming, but autumn roses are said to have deeper colors and more beautiful shapes, truly stunning. Moreover, their fragrance surpasses that of spring roses. Their flower language also often contains passionate meanings related to love, affection, happiness, etc.
Just looking at the pictures, you almost get intoxicated by the roses.
This reminds me of Riyoko Ikeda's work 'The Rose of Versailles'. It's as if I can hear the laughter of Oscar and Queen Marie Antoinette of France!
Let's look forward to the enchanting autumn roses, and next spring's roses too~
