Impression of Prague | Leading You into a Fairy Tale World
"I stand at the square of Prague in the dusk, casting my hope into the wishing well. The flock of white pigeons turn their backs to the setting sun, the scene is too beautiful for me to bear." The first time I heard Jolin Tsai's song "Prague Square," I was deeply captivated by its melody. It was also the first time I learned that there is a romantic and beautiful city in the world called Prague.
Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic. When talking about Prague, many people associate it with romance and fairy tales. It is also the only city in Europe that was not destroyed by bombing in World War II, preserving its appearance from various historical periods.
Prague is not a large city, and its attractions are very concentrated. The streets are like an exquisite fairy tale with no blind spots. The vintage buildings, the sudden appearance of red trams, and the well-dressed gentlemen holding coffee are all beautiful and refined scenes.
Prague Castle is about the size of seven football fields, holding the Guinness World Record for the largest ancient castle. Inside Prague Castle, there are three courtyards, several ancient streets, galleries, gardens, and the largest Gothic church in the Czech Republic, St. Vitus Cathedral. St. Vitus Cathedral, built within the castle, is the largest church in Prague.
St. Vitus Cathedral was the venue for the coronation ceremonies of emperors, earning the reputation of "architectural treasure." Charles Bridge is a Gothic stone bridge connecting the Old Town and the New Town of Prague. It was the必经之路 for the coronation processions of kings. It is said that during World War II, rumbling tanks crossed the bridge, but it remained as steady as a mountain.
Autumn in Prague carries a slight chill. At a little past eight in the morning, Charles Bridge is still sparsely populated with people. But this is the perfect time to quietly appreciate the city that has just awakened from the night: the Vltava River flows silently beneath the bridge; the scene is as exquisite as a painting.
Vincent Fang wrote in the lyrics for Jolin Tsai: "I stand at the square of Prague in the dusk, casting my hope into the wishing well." This refers to the Old Town Square of Prague. However, there is no wishing well here. Every day, a variety of street performers perform in the square, making it lively and bustling. When the pandemic is over, if you have time, you can take your Weplus suitcase and go see the romantic fairy tale of Prague together.
