This is a travelogue from Langmaoxian, where interesting souls look forward to meeting on the road.

As Qingdao’s first five-star hotel, Shangri-La has always been highly acclaimed. Beyond the brand endorsement, convenient transportation is a must when traveling. The hotel sits in the city’s bustling center, adjacent to the city hall, financial district, tourist attractions, and the seaside. It’s within walking distance of May Fourth Square and the Olympic Sailing Center, and just steps from The Mixc, a giant one-stop shopping and leisure mall. The Badaguan Scenic Area is a mere ten-minute drive, and Qingdao Liuting International Airport is about 40 minutes away by car.

I stayed in a super deluxe king room and a deluxe standard room in Shengshi Pavilion. Room number gives access to the 20th-floor executive lounge, and the view from the 16th floor is simply superb. They even prepared a children’s tent, bathtub, potty, ocean balls, and a duck toy for Little Cutie—absolutely adorable.

From the concierge welcome and front desk check-in to lounge privileges and the luxurious spa, the staff were courteous throughout. The hospitality of Shandong shines through. Shangri-La’s meticulous, family-like care truly reflects the warm-hearted nature of Qingdao people.

Inside the two interconnected buildings of Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao—Shengshi Pavilion and Qingxiang Pavilion—gazing out the window, you can take in the pure white sky, deep blue sea, and snow-white sand all at once. Looking down, you see the city’s endless prosperity and bustling streets. Take a deep breath of the gentle sea breeze; the air is filled with a floating fragrance that makes you marvel at the beautiful scenery. The hotel boasts 702 suites and guest rooms. Shengshi Pavilion features a separate lobby and a special passageway, with rooms measuring 54 square meters.

The wonderfully airy rooms combine high-quality furnishings with warm colors, spacious, comfortable beds, a thoughtfully curated pillow menu, and L’Occitane bath products from France, offering guests a cozy and comforting experience.

Chi Spa at Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao, offers over 30 facial treatments, body therapies, and massage services. The Ocean Energy signature massage blends unique marine extracts with sea mineral oils, using French massage techniques to enhance skin softness and infuse the entire body with energy.

As the sweet, floral scent of beer wafts gently in, the beer spa brings ultimate indulgence to body and mind, seeping in bit by bit until all stress and fatigue dissolve. The hotel’s massage spa package celebrates the hospitality of Qingdao Beer, helping to soothe tension throughout the body. It ingeniously combines traditional martial arts care techniques with elements of Shangri-La Qingdao Beer, using a warming massage method to relax the whole body and rejuvenate the skin from inside out.

Shang Palace’s seafood feast is full of fresh, bold flavors.

For the mains, the small lobster is halved, rich with roe and thick meat, then coated in a secret bean paste—perfect texture. The caviar-topped Australian scallops look unassuming but deliver a burst of rich, fresh flavor. The sweet and sour yellow croaker has the feel of squirrel-shaped mandarin fish—sweet, tangy, tender inside and crisp outside, making little foodie Little Cutie unable to stop.

The hotel thoughtfully provided a baby chair and steamed egg custard in advance. The iron-pot beer clams are a must-try; if the clams weren’t fresh, they wouldn’t dare cook them this way. And the Laoshan four-bowl feast with pumpkin steamed buns—if it’s your first time in Qingdao, this taste is authentically local.

The creatively prepared dishes using local seafood both amaze the taste buds and satisfy the appetite. Shang Palace blends diverse cuisines, offering an elegant and comfortable dining setting, distinctive presentation, and a team of highly skilled chefs, delivering a high-quality dining experience to every guest.
