A New Qingdao Vacation Choice: Check in to Jimo Ancient City Junlan Resort Hotel and Experience Ancient City Slow Living

I recently vacationed in Sanya and Zhoushan, both coastal cities with vastly different landscapes. This time, I thought of vacationing in the northern coastal city of Qingdao. During Qingdao's winter, it's not suitable for a dip in the sea. So, on a friend's recommendation, I took a stroll in Jimo Ancient City. And within the ancient city, I discovered a resort hotel with ancient city charm that I absolutely loved.

At first glance, I didn't even realize it was a hotel. That's because the hotel is right inside the Jimo Ancient City scenic area. More precisely, the hotel is an integral part of Jimo Ancient City. Through the windows of the guest rooms or standing in the courtyard, you can see the ancient city walls outside the hotel. Climbing up those walls, you can take in the full view of the hotel and the beautiful ancient city.

The hotel is located in the southeast corner of the Jimo Ancient City scenic area, about a half-hour drive from the airport. It features a new Chinese architectural style that complements Jimo Ancient City perfectly. Covering a total area of 30,000 square meters, it's very spacious. Yet it has only 102 guest rooms because each one is meticulously designed. The hotel also boasts a large banquet hall, conference rooms, a buffet restaurant, a gym, a spa, a bar, and more—everything you could need.

The hotel's entrance hall and lobby are simply magnificent, resembling an ancient palace. The ceiling height is extraordinary, unbelievably high. The lobby's décor is also very elegant and comfortable. You can easily spend an afternoon on the lobby sofas, reading a book and sipping tea. Inside the hotel, staff dressed in Hanfu costumes make you feel as if you've traveled back in time to the ancient city.

Passing through the lobby, you arrive at the central courtyard, which is the focal landscape. Surrounded by guest rooms, the antique glazed roof tiles and elegant, exquisite garden scenery are truly pleasing to the eye! Normally, there is a water feature here. During my stay, the central water feature and the gate's facade were both undergoing renovations. It was a bit of a pity, as both spots are very beautiful! I hope to make up for it on my next visit.

Further along a passageway, there is a tea room, very peaceful and secluded. It's perfect for a few friends to gather, sip tea, chat, and bask in the sun.

The guest rooms are mainly spread across the main building, courtyard house area, and villa area. Strolling through the hotel, it truly feels like 'every step reveals a new scene.' The landscape and architecture are stunningly beautiful, blended to perfection.

This is a courtyard house room. Basically, each building has only a few rooms, accommodating just a handful of guests. The courtyard houses feature private and communal courtyards, offering excellent privacy, and the views and décor are top-notch! Personally, I adore this type of room.

This is a standalone villa, classically elegant and breathtakingly beautiful! I'd guess it's several hundred square meters, with generous indoor and courtyard spaces. Every stone, tile, carving, tree, and bush is meticulously chosen, making it absolutely delightful. This kind of room is especially suitable for leaders, celebrities, or large families. Of course, it's also perfect for hosting weddings or honeymoons.

I stayed in a courtyard room in the main building. It felt spacious and came with a huge courtyard. The best part is that when you look up, you can see the ancient city wall just beyond the courtyard.

The room's layout and furnishings are very well designed. The sofa, bedding, and toiletries are extremely comfortable, and the shower and bathroom are quite spacious.

The room service is also very thoughtful and attentive. Before bedtime, they'll place drinking water and slippers by your bedside. If you have high pillow preferences, you can even choose your own sleeping pillow. In short, they've paid attention to every detail.

The hotel's buffet restaurant was also a delightful surprise. It offers traditional Western cuisine, Chinese dishes, a seafood buffet, and a small hot pot. There are also local specialties like the Mocheng fresh meat pie. The classical Chinese decor, open kitchen, dazzling array of food, and steaming hot pot all combine to give a warm, homey feel.

The most surprising hit is the small hot pot, which is deeply loved by guests. On a cold winter day, a hot pot meal warms both heart and stomach.

The breakfast spread is equally sumptuous, with appetizing congee, specialty pastries, fresh fruit, milk, coffee, and more—perfect for awakening the taste buds and starting the day full of energy.

The hotel also offers a bar, gym, spa, and other wellness and entertainment facilities. In the evening, the hotspot is the bar near the hotel entrance. The bar's name is very poetic: Hidden Water Pavilion (Cangshuixie). Inside, you can enjoy afternoon tea during the day and drinks at night, along with live band performances.

Stepping out of the hotel, you're right in Jimo Ancient City. Jimo was first recorded in ancient texts such as 'Strategies of the Warring States' and 'Records of the Grand Historian.' During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, it was a famous city of the Qi state. The county seat of Jimo was moved to its current location in 596 AD, giving it a history of over 1,400 years.

The overall layout of Jimo Ancient City is 'one city, two streets, ten scenic spots, and thirteen neighborhoods.' You can explore the ancient city walls, memorial archways, the former county government office, the grand stage, the Confucian temple, and more. The night view when the lights are on is also fantastic—don't miss it.

This Qingdao vacation was truly joyful. I loved the local customs and culture of Qingdao, the profound history of Jimo Ancient City, and the exceptional experience at Jimo Ancient City Junlan Resort Hotel.
