Qingdao Sets Sail, Haitian Center Takes Off! China's Largest Single-Building Light Show Dazzles Fushan Bay!
Spring breeze comes from the sea, bright moon over the river. Lights in every household, music and song in every tower" — this poem, "Night of the 15th Day of the First Lunar Month," by Bai Juyi, was originally used to depict the spectacular Lantern Festival night in Suzhou and Hangzhou, embodying the age-old interplay between bustling cities and a sea of lights.
Now turn to Qingdao on the shores of the Yellow Sea. As this coastal city strives to become an international metropolis, it will use the sea as its stage, the sky as its backdrop, and its skyline as scenery this June, putting on a uniquely inspired "landmark light show" that salutes this great era as Qingdao embraces new opportunities of opening up.
On the evening of June 20, a grand, tech-savvy light show performance took Fushan Bay by storm. As the lights of countless buildings flickered in rhythm, the "star" of the show took the stage: the Qingdao Guoxin Haitian Center, which officially opened that day.
Against the backdrop of Qingdao's full-speed push to become an international fashion hub, the glittering opening of the Qingdao Guoxin Haitian Center used its own special language to present a light show that blended Qilu culture, urban scenery, corporate identity, and fashionable effects. With landmark power, it energized the heart of the city and reshaped Qingdao's core space.
Dazzling Fushan Bay: A Special "Landmark Light Show"
On the evening of June 20, as the city lights came on, a grand themed light show unfolded magically along Qingdao's golden coastline. The core and focal point of this show was the newly opened Haitian Center. Through the night, the themed light show turned the Haitian Center into a giant screen, with light and shadow perfectly combining to display the vitality and fashion of this new Qingdao landmark — an utterly commanding presence.
At 7:58 PM, the Fushan Bay light show burst into bloom, centered on the Haitian Center building. The brilliant, colorful lights perfectly showcased the unique charm of "Melody of the Sea."
As a countdown began on the facade of the Haitian Center, numbers swirled from far to near, accompanied by rising and falling sound effects, delivering a strong visual punch. Then, a brilliant gem slowly rose from the base, casting blue and yellow light waves in all directions, with particles twisting the light to rapidly outline the building's corners and curves. When the gem reached the top, the illuminated Qingdao Haitian Center finally emerged, "after long anticipation."
On the opening ceremony, a visual feast combining cool light effects and naked-eye 3D used rich light and shadow effects to vividly capture the majesty of the Haitian Center. Elements such as K-line charts, lotus ponds, seagulls, beer, the May Wind sculpture, Confucius, Mount Tai, and the Yellow River appeared one after another, unfolding layer by layer to showcase Qilu's hospitable culture, Qingdao's city culture, and Guoxin's corporate culture to the world.
In an instant, the shores of Fushan Bay were dotted with starlight and patches of neon, forming a dazzling "river of lights" that pushed the entire celebration to its climax.
Finally, the focus of the entire light show returned to the Haitian Center, concluding with the message "Blessed Bay City, Crafted with Devotion, a Home Between Sea and Sky," bringing the spectacle to a perfect close.
At this moment, Qingdao, having redefined its skyline, once again anchored the "heart of Qindao."
The New Haitian Center: Reshaping the City's Core with Landmark Power
Just like the Burj Khalifa to Dubai, the Empire State Building to New York, or the Shanghai Tower to Shanghai — all embody the spirit of their times.
The Haitian Center is no exception for Qingdao.
When the 369-meter Haitian Center, armed with a "top-tier lineup" of four national patents, full 3D technology, over 70,000 meters of high-quality light lines, and more than 10,000 sets of international top-brand fixtures, staged this light and shadow show, it innovatively sprinkled 12 million light sources along Qingdao's golden coastline. This was not only the largest single-building light show in China to ever come to Qingdao but also, through the triumphant return of a new landmark, we witnessed the city's bold ambitions for the future.
For here, nostalgia and modernity intertwine, reflecting the trajectory of a city striving forward; here, sea and sky merge into one, illuminating urban prosperity in its ascent; here, a new landmark rises with gathered momentum, revealing Qingdao's confident and steadfast embrace of the world.
As the future arrives, the Haitian Center reshapes the city's core. This super landmark, integrating seven major functions — a super 5A-grade office tower, a five-star Haitian Hotel, a super five-star St. Regis Hotel, a Cloud Art Center, a city observation deck, a Skydiamond Club, Haitian Mall, and Haitian Residences — is bound to have an immeasurably positive impact on Qingdao's urban layout and functionality.
