The Nearest Hotel to Exam Venues at Qingdao No. 58 High School and Qingdao Finance and Economics Vocational School
On May 6–7, I just took the spring college entrance exam. For students who will take the gaokao in June, I’d like to share and recommend a wonderful hotel to stay at.
My exam site was at Qingdao Finance and Economics Vocational School. As soon as the sites were announced in April, I started booking a hotel. After comparing several, I chose the closest one: Blue Horizon Hotel (Qingdao Licang Junfeng Road Metro Station branch). Of course, proximity was my main reason — it’s just 100 meters downstairs, so no worries about traffic jams or long walks that could tire you out. You also have plenty of time to rest after lunch. Once I checked in, I realized I had made the right choice. Blue Horizon truly lives up to its reputation as a long-established brand — the environment, service, and meals were all excellent, making me eager to share my experience.
I booked a stay starting May 5. On the morning of May 5, a customer service representative called to ask when I would arrive and whether it was for the exam. They explained that exam-takers would be assigned to quiet rooms on a dedicated floor and that the rooms would be prepped in advance with stationery, fruit, milk, and so on. That instantly eased my mind about whether the hotel would be good. Before arrival, I also added their service rep Xiaohai on WeChat, and he sent me the hotel’s exact location plus subway and bus routes — so thoughtful.
When I arrived, both the lobby and the room felt warm and comfortable. The lobby had a self-service “supply station” with stationery you could take for free, and they even printed materials for exam-takers. I used the printing service once, and the staff member said “Good luck!” to me — that was really touching.
The room had a greeting card, fruit, milk, earplugs, an eye mask, and small gifts — all of which eased my pre-exam nerves. The room was quiet and comfortable, and whenever I met staff in the hallway, they greeted me politely. They communicated among themselves in hushed tones, clearly mindful not to disturb guests.
Another heartwarming thing about Blue Horizon: some students didn’t stay at the hotel, but their parents accompanied them. During the exam, there was nowhere for those parents to go — sitting by the roadside in the heat was no picnic. Licang Blue Horizon Hotel thoughtfully set aside a meeting room with tables, chairs, and bottled water for parents to rest, all free of charge. They also placed many bottles of water outside the exam site for both exam-takers and parents to drink for free. Students who weren’t staying at the hotel could even come and rest there after lunch — truly amazing.
I ate all my meals at Blue Horizon these two days. A big hotel like this is reliable, the food is tasty, and the group meal deals aren’t expensive. To help us eat with peace of mind, for a 109-yuan lunch set, they even gave the two of us a private dining room with dedicated service, which was so convenient. After eating, I could go back to my room to rest and prepare for the afternoon exams — really fantastic.
Of course, I didn’t have time to take photos, so I borrowed these from Xiaohai’s WeChat Moments. I just want to express my gratitude to the hotel and give them a thumbs-up. I hope fellow students and parents whose exam site is at Qingdao Finance and Economics Vocational School will consider choosing Blue Horizon Hotel (Qingdao Licang Junfeng Road Metro Station branch). As far as I know, the exam site at Qingdao No. 58 High School is also very close, so it’s worth considering too.
After the exam, I purposely stayed an extra day because I had read about Licun Night Market and wanted to check it out. With the exams over and my mood relaxed, I treated the night market as a mini vacation, haha.
I indulged in all kinds of street food and later strolled through a park and some shopping malls. The Blue Horizon Hotel in Licang District is also a great choice for travelers. Next time friends visit, I’ll recommend they stay here.
Finally, to all students: Good luck on the gaokao! Stay at Blue Horizon and you’ll pass for sure!!!
