Three Days in Taizhou: From Table Dining to Buffet

A three-day trip to Taizhou, with great food beyond expectations.

It began with the whole fish feast at 'Shi Wei Tian' restaurant in Qintong. Since it's a water city, the abundance of river delicacies and the cooking techniques were beyond what I had anticipated. A particular dish was a basin of 'Steamed Fish Chin' (non-professional name). At first glance, I thought it was steamed stinky tofu. Upon tasting, I realized it was tender, fatty, and fresh! I had it for the first time in my life. I thought that when the lazy Susan came around again, this delicacy would be gone. Unexpectedly, after one full rotation and then another, the 'Fish Chin' was still there! Perhaps the fellow diners found it strange and dared not pick it up?

On the morning of October 6, the itinerary was packed: we entered Taoyuan, passed through the Old Street, and then entered Meiyuan. Leaving Meiyuan, we boarded the bus and soon arrived at Wanghai Tower. The four scenic spots were visually appealing and rich in cultural and historical depth. Our excitement grew with each stop.

Lunch was at 'Fengcheng Renjia'. The dishes were abundant. Although the pandemic has not completely ended and public chopsticks are advocated for group meals, the tourists still frequently picked up their chopsticks and ate heartily.

After lunch, on the bus, Guide Wang said: 'Those who like karaoke can get off at the KTV stop; those who prefer to go back to the hotel for a nap can get off at the hotel stop.'

For a three-day trip to Taizhou, there was even a day where we could return to the hotel for an afternoon nap! It suited me perfectly.

We gathered at 4 PM, boarded the bus, and headed for the buffet. The small city wasn't small; the bus drove nearly an hour to reach 'Spring Global Super Value Buffet'. Seeing the sign, I was taken aback!

Entering the hall, there were hot pot and barbecue facilities on the tables, dozens of ingredients: seafood, river fish, beef, lamb, pork, fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, beer, foreign wine — a dazzling array. How could one possibly try everything?

Asking at the front desk, I learned: lunch 69 yuan per person, dinner 79 yuan per person. Glasses clinked, and we were all tipsy and warm!
