Fan Xianghui: Encounter - Taizhou
In mid-October, by chance, I spent five days in Taizhou, Jiangsu. A not very large urban area, all laid out along the Fengcheng River. Before I knew it, I would find myself strolling by the river. However, for some reason I could not take photos during the day, so I could only go at dawn and dusk, and I forced myself to take a look at this city that had no impression in my mind.
Taizhou has a history of over 2,100 years as a city. In the Qin dynasty it was called Haiyang, in the Han dynasty Hailing, it became a prefecture in the Southern Tang, and flourished in culture during the Northern Song. During the Southern Tang it was made a prefectural seat and named 'Taizhou', blending the charms of Wu, Chu, and Yue, gathering the winds of the Yangtze, Huai, and the sea. For thousands of years, it has enjoyed favorable weather, peace, and harmony, and is hailed as an auspicious blessed land and auspicious Taizhou. Here, numerous talents gather and famous sages emerge in succession, with Mei Lanfang as an outstanding representative. There are many famous historical sites and ancient monuments, such as Guangxiao Temple, Chongru Shrine, the City God Temple, Wanghai Tower, and Mei Garden, which represent the inheritance of history and the vitality of culture, making it a national historical and cultural city.
In my spare time, my lens focused more on historical sites and ancient buildings. Since I could not enter them, I just captured fleeting glimpses from the outside, treating them as travel notes.
