The flowers are in full bloom—what are you waiting for?
You may have seen rapeseed fields before,
But you may never have seen a sea of flowers floating on water.
At the Qianduo Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area in Taizhou,
Rapeseed flowers grow on duotian (raised fields),
Like countless floating islands,
With flowers on both banks and rippling water,
Boating through is as splendid as a painting!
Qianduo Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area is located east of Dongwang Village, Qianduo Town, Xinghua City, Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, covering nearly 10,000 mu (about 667 hectares). Every year during the Qingming Festival, the "duotian" surrounded by water bloom with golden rapeseed flowers, creating a magnificent scene of "golden rapeseed flowers covering the ground" on the water.
"Duotian" is a unique agricultural landscape in the Lixiahe region. In ancient times, the area was mostly wetlands with little soil. People dug net-like deep ditches or small rivers in the lakes and marshes, piling the mud into square mounds to create cultivable duotian, gradually forming a wonder of duotian with world natural and cultural heritage value.

Spring is here again, the season for flower viewing.
You may have appreciated the pride of plum blossoms, witnessed the allure of peach blossoms, or admired the splendor of cherry blossoms, but you may never have seen the vast sea of rapeseed flowers stretching for miles.
Qianduo Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area is ideal for a self-drive trip. The roads along the way are in good condition, and you can drive directly to the parking lot in front of the visitor center. The parking lot has many spaces, making parking very convenient. On the day of our visit, there were about 10,000 people in the scenic area, but the parking spaces at the entrance were not too tight.
Tickets can be purchased and checked at the visitor center. Enter the scenic area through the back door of the visitor center after ticket inspection, cross the footbridge, and you will be in the sea of flowers on the other side of the road.
After descending from the footbridge, there is a straight path. The path is lined with various trees and flowers. We arrived a bit early, so most plants had not yet reached full bloom. Along the way, there are also small photo spots and children's activities. Walking through this spring scenery gives a very spring-like atmosphere and never feels monotonous.
As we walked further, the dry land gradually turned into ponds and duotian, and large patches of rapeseed flowers appeared all around.
Walking to this long, tall building that from a distance looks like a water village fortress, we reached the core viewing area. Don't underestimate this dark structure; from below, you might think it's just a public restroom, but climbing to the top opens up a breathtaking view!
Standing on the observation deck, leaning on the railing and looking into the distance, you can take in the magnificent panorama of the Qianduo rapeseed flower sea! The land before you is like a giant painting, with countless duotian stretching to the horizon—vast and magnificent!
If you don't climb this high platform, you won't see the panoramic wonder of Qianduo, nor will you intuitively grasp the true meaning of the name "Qianduo."
The Qianduo Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area is renowned globally for its unique "duotian" landforms, a globally important agricultural heritage. "Duotian" is a unique agricultural landscape in the region. In ancient times, the area was mostly wetlands with little soil. People dug net-like deep ditches or small rivers in the lakes and marshes, piling the mud into square mounds to create cultivable duotian, forming a wonder of duotian with world natural and cultural heritage value.
When we entered the scenic area, it was raining heavily, but by the time we reached the observation deck, the rain had stopped. After descending from the observation deck and putting away our umbrellas, the children eagerly crossed the wooden bridge and rushed into the fields. At that moment, it wasn't just bumping into spring—it was diving headfirst into a honey pot filled with spring!
This is the spokesperson of spring, an ocean of flowers! If you're stressed from work or don't know where to go, come to the sea of flowers in Qianduo and run freely like a child!
Waves of rapeseed flowers, a sea of gold—in these simplest fields, you can open your arms and shout into the wind like a child, unconstrained!
Standing in this ocean of rapeseed flowers, you may feel as if time stretches, life slows down, and your heart sheds its burdens, becoming peaceful and joyful. This place is not just a field or a sea of flowers—it's a healing garden.
Suddenly, a commotion rose from the distant flower fields. Tourists from all directions began to gather toward the sound. From afar, in the golden sea of flowers, two golden dragons appeared. Surrounded by the crowd, the dragons danced through the flower sea.
Throughout the day, the scenic area holds various folk performances and interactive activities, adding a splash of color to the sea of flowers.
In this spring sea of flowers, with small bridges and flowing water, it carries the charm of a water town.
Climbing high and looking into the distance, the flower sea stretches on; walking with a flutter of sleeves, geese startle and take flight...
The fields of Qianduo are not only great for children to run in but also perfect for wearing a Hanfu gown, flowing like wind and snow!
In these Qianduo fields, there is always the brilliance of spring and the heavy colors of a painting!
I have seen countless rapeseed flower seas before, but only the fields of Qianduo allow you to take a boat and row through. Beneath this tower is the dock for rowboats. Buy a ticket, and you can float through the sea of flowers, traveling within a painting!
As the oars sway, the boat rocks gently in the sea of flowers. The waterway is not wide, the water is calm, and the flowers on both banks stretch endlessly. On the duotian, a light boat, with the faint fragrance of flowers—at this moment, you can almost touch the romance of poetry and the serenity of a painting. Perhaps, the countryside of dreams looks exactly this peaceful!
A lone boat, a vast expanse of yellow flowers—such a spring is intoxicatingly beautiful, mesmerizing!
Besides rowboats, the scenic area also offers painted boats. These boats are taller, sailing on wider waterways, offering better viewing angles. The painted boats are also more stable, making them suitable for the elderly, children, or visitors with mobility issues to enjoy the sea of flowers.
During my visit to Qianduo Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area over the past few days, it rained heavily at times and was overcast at others. It was a pity not to see blue skies and white clouds, because the beauty of Qianduo with clear water, yellow flowers, and blue sky and white clouds would be transcendent! And if I could also encounter a sunset and twilight glow, it would be like a fairyland!
In travel, every imperfect shortcoming is motivation to meet again. I look forward to coming back to Qianduo Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area next time, hoping to meet a blue sky, to encounter a glow of twilight, and to fully experience all the charm of this golden sea of flowers!
