Searching for Traces of Early Winter
Before coming to the Port Diaohualou Scenic Area, I did my homework and was quite interested in private gardens. The description of one bridge (Qingyuan Bridge), two streets (Qingyuan Street and Chaixu Street), three temples (Guandi Temple, City God Temple, Wealth God Temple), and four residences (the ancient Diaohualou, Sun's Quadrangle Building, Qi's Jinshi Mansion, and Li Xinchang Freight House) attracted me.
First, I visited the Diaohualou (Carved Tower). The first thing that caught my eye was a floor screen showing a panoramic view of the Diaohualou, consisting of three front courtyards, followed by the main building and a back garden.
After leaving the Diaohualou, I crossed Qingyuan Bridge. Next to it is the Chaixu Fengshui Wheel, which I heard also promotes farming culture.
To the left of the Yue Fei statue is the second scenic spot, Sun's Quadrangle Building. The owner of Sun's Quadrangle Building was the founder of a key local high school, so this building is now used to spread knowledge of Chinese traditional culture, such as enlightenment education, special languages, and private tutoring culture. It is a great place for children to learn and enlighten. On that day, many parents brought their children to study in this hall. Children held books in their hands, and some even wore Hanfu attire, which was quite a pleasing sight.
The third hall is Qi's Jinshi Mansion, which introduces the culture of traditional Chinese military jinshi (imperial examination graduates). I felt that it connects well with Sun's Quadrangle Building. After a half-day of strolling and stopping, I found that the Diaohualou Scenic Area is worth a visit, with many appealing cultural elements. Thumbs up!
