Reliable local guide in Sichuan, authentic pure travel guide in Sichuan, private internet-famous guide, must-visit tourist attractions, attractions chapter.
This time we traveled to Sichuan. We booked our own round-trip flights to Chengdu and contacted Da Age, a highly recommended local guide in Sichuan, in advance. He arranged the entire 5-day itinerary for us, so we didn't have to worry about anything. It was also very cost-effective. For a few hundred yuan for 5 days, it covered 4 nights in luxury hotels, as well as tickets to all attractions including Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Dujiangyan, and the Panda Base, all transportation fees, insurance, etc. Da Age and his team are a local guide group that offers 24-hour butler service. They were very considerate, and I strongly recommend them.
Here is our specific itinerary in Sichuan:
Chengdu + Panda Base + Dujiangyan + Huanglong + Zhuchuan Temple + Jiuzhaigou 5 days 4 nights
Day 1: Arrived in Chengdu in the morning. Da Age arranged for a driver to pick us up and check into a hotel in the city center. Then we visited Kuanzhai Alley, Jinli, Wuhou Shrine, and Du Fu Thatched Cottage on our own.
The hotel arranged by Da Age was near Chunxi Road, so it was very convenient to go to the downtown area for shopping in the afternoon. I especially recommend Da Age. If you want to go to Chengdu, you can ask him in advance. The intersection centered on Chunxi Road, with four pedestrian streets in the east, west, south, and north, is full of shopping malls and snack streets. It is very convenient to go to Kuanzhai Alley and Jinli for shopping. To find a guide, search online: Sichuan guide Da Age.
Day 2: Panda Base + Dujiangyan, stay in Chengdu.
Day 3: Full tour of the five scenic areas of Huanglong, stay in Jiuzhaigou.
Day 4: Full tour of Jiuzhaigou, stay in Jiuzhaigou.
Day 5: Zhuchuan Temple, return to Chengdu, stay in Chengdu overnight (accommodation was on our own; we explored downtown Chengdu by ourselves afterward).
After returning to Chengdu, we did not leave directly but stayed one more day because I hadn't had enough of the local hot pot. In fact, there are many more fun places in Sichuan, such as Mount Emei, Mount Qingcheng, and Leshan Giant Buddha. If time permitted, I would have asked Da Age to take me to Daocheng Yading as well. The next morning, Da Age arranged for a driver to take us to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport, ending our happy trip.
Highlights of essential tourist attractions in Sichuan:
Jiuzhaigou: This magical stream displays different colors every year, surrounded by vast primeval forests, mountains, and snowy peaks. It would be a pity not to see such a wonder.
Huanglong Scenic Area: Located at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, the area features a mix of landscapes including forests, waterfalls, snowy mountains, gorges, and large tracts of primeval forest. Visitors will marvel at the greatness and wonder of nature.
Kuanzhai Alley is located near Changshun Street in Qingyang District, Chengdu, Sichuan. It consists of three parallel alleys: Kuan Alley, Zhai Alley, and Jing Alley, lined with ancient-style courtyard houses of black bricks and tiles. It is a well-preserved Qing Dynasty street remaining in Chengdu, and along with Daci Temple and Wenshu Monastery, it is one of the three protected historical and cultural blocks of Chengdu.
Legend has it that Jinli was one of the oldest and most commercial streets in western Sichuan history, famous nationwide as early as the Qin-Han and Three Kingdoms periods. Today, Jinli draws on Chengdu's Wuhou Shrine, taking the spirit of the Qin-Han and Three Kingdoms as its soul, and Ming-Qing architectural styles as its appearance, with the folk customs of western Sichuan as its content, expanding the scope of Three Kingdoms culture.
