Sichuan Travel: Highly Recommended Tour Guides, Quality Tour Guides, Well-Reviewed Tour Guides, Trusted Tour Guides – Guide Section

Sichuan's tourist attractions are scattered across the east, south, west, and north regions, with vast distances between them. If you don't do thorough research before going and instead adopt a "figure it out when you get to Chengdu" attitude, it will be a very unpleasant trip. Sichuan's tourism resources are uniquely rich, ranging from plateaus, mountains, and valleys to basins, hills, and plains, from rivers and lakes to hot springs and waterfalls, from karst areas to Danxia landforms—majestic, beautiful, strange, and serene, with gorgeous scenery.

Major attractions in Sichuan include Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Daocheng Yading, Mount Emei, Leshan Giant Buddha, Panda Base, Dujiangyan, Qingcheng Mountain, etc.

I took my family to Sichuan in the middle of last month. At first, we didn't consider a travel agency and wanted to travel independently for more freedom. There are many pristine attractions in Sichuan. We planned to stay for 5 days and read many guides, but still couldn't figure it out. Later, on Tianya Forum, a netizen recommended a local guide for high-quality independent travel in Sichuan named Da Age. The netizen said he knows the area very well and is honest and down-to-earth. We then contacted Da Age and asked him to help us plan the itinerary, which saved us a lot of money and trouble. We stayed in a quality business hotel in Chengdu and a characteristic inn in Jiuzhaigou—very comfortable. To find a guide, search online: Sichuan tour guide Da Age.

Sharing our itinerary in Sichuan:

5 Days 4 Nights Tour of Chengdu + Huanglong + Chuanzhusi + Jiuzhaigou

Day 1: Arrive in Chengdu. Da Age picked us up and arranged for us to be taken to the hotel for check-in.

Day 2: Chengdu – Huanglong – Chuanzhusi – Jiuzhaigou entrance, overnight in Jiuzhaigou.

After breakfast, depart from Chengdu, enjoying the scenery of the Chengdu Plain along the way. Pass through Dujiangyan City, Yingxiu, Wenchuan, and Maoxian. Have lunch in Chuanzhusi. After lunch, take the bus to the "Fairy Pool on Earth" [Huanglong Scenic Area]. Huanglong, with its majestic, steep, strange, and wild scenic features, is known as a "World Wonder" and "Fairy Pool on Earth."

The altitude at Huanglong is relatively high, so you should act according to your ability. You can also take the cable car at your own expense to the Five-Color Pond, enjoying along the way the Welcome Pond, Flying Waterfall, Body-Washing Cave, Bonsai Pond, etc. After the tour, take the bus back to Jiuzhaigou and check into the hotel.

Day 3: Full day in Jiuzhaigou, overnight in Jiuzhaigou.

After breakfast, depart for the [Jiuzhaigou] parking lot. Walk 800–1000 meters from Lantian Parking Lot or Minghua Parking Lot to the scenic area entrance, get your ticket, and queue in order to take the sightseeing bus into the valley. Jiuzhaigou is located in Zhangzha Town, Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is a branch of the Bai River upstream of Baishui Gully, named after the nine Tibetan villages.

Jiuzhaigou's scenery is charming all year round. In the distance, snow-capped peaks stand tall against the sky, covered in white snow all year. Together with cultural landscapes such as Tibetan wooden houses, drying racks with prayer flags, plank bridges, mill houses, traditional customs, and myths and legends, it is known as a "Fairy Tale World." Jiuzhaigou includes Shuzheng Gully and Zechawa Gully.

Day 4: Jiuzhaigou, Chuanzhusi – Tibetan Village – Chuanzhu Ethnic Town, overnight in Chengdu.

After breakfast, depart to visit a [Featured Tibetan Village], then go to [Chuanzhusi Ethnic Town], and enjoy a special meal at this scenic spot—the Tea Horse Road Feast. After the visit, take the bus back to Chengdu and stay overnight.

Day 5: We took a stroll around Kuanzhai Alley, had lunch, checked out, and left Chengdu, ending our happy five-day trip.

Major tourist attractions worth visiting in Sichuan:

Jiuzhaigou: This magical stream shows different colors every year, surrounded by vast primeval forests, mountains, and snow-capped peaks. It would be a pity not to see such a wonder.

Leshan Giant Buddha: At the foot of the Leshan Giant Buddha is the confluence of three rivers. A boat tour offers a unique experience.

Dujiangyan: This man-made weir built during the pre-Qin period tamed the Min River, preventing floods in the Chengdu Plain. Today, the Li Bing Museum at Dujiangyan allows visitors to appreciate the great wisdom of the ancients.

Huanglong Scenic Area: Located at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, this area features a mix of landscapes including forests, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, canyons, and large tracts of primeval forest. Visitors will marvel at the greatness and wonder of nature.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding: Located on the gentle slopes of Futtou Mountain in the northern suburbs of Chengdu, the base includes open research laboratories, a veterinary hospital, animal enclosures and exercise areas, Swan Lake, a Giant Panda Museum, a Giant Panda Hospital, and a Giant Panda Kitchen. It is a lush, bird-friendly environment that combines natural mountain scenery with beautiful artificial landscapes, providing a suitable ecological habitat for giant pandas and various rare wildlife.

Kuanzhai Alley: Located near Changshun Street, Qingyang District, Chengdu, Sichuan, it consists of three parallel alleys: Kuan Alley, Zhai Alley, and Jing Alley, all lined with blue-brick and gray-tile mock antique courtyard houses. It is one of the best-preserved Qing Dynasty streets in Chengdu and, together with Daci Temple and Wenshu Monastery, is one of Chengdu's three major historical and cultural conservation districts.

Legend has it that Jinli was one of the oldest and most commercial streets in Western Shu history, famous nationwide as early as the Qin-Han and Three Kingdoms periods. Today's Jinli, relying on Chengdu's Wuhou Shrine, takes the spirit of Qin-Han and Three Kingdoms as its soul, Ming and Qing styles as its appearance, and Western Sichuan folk customs as its content, expanding the extension of Three Kingdoms culture.
