Eternal Love of Jiuzhai: A Complete Experience of Jiuzhai Scenery and Spectacular Shows
Everyone has a distant dream, so travel becomes a must. You have to visit Jiuzhaigou at least once!
Some things are beautiful simply because you've longed for them for so long. You see people coming and going around you, yet you remain in your own place, also yearning for what lies ahead. This summer, a few friends and I, driven by this yearning, arrived in Aba Prefecture and Jiuzhaigou.
Water can be called the spirit of Jiuzhaigou, and its haizi (lakes) are especially distinctive. The lake water is clear and azure all year round, so bright that you can see the bottom, and it displays different colors and moods as light changes and seasons pass.
Jiuzhaigou is a world of water and a kingdom of waterfalls. All the waterfalls rush out from the dense forest. Here stands the Nuorilang Waterfall, the widest in China, cascading down from high green cliffs like a huge silk curtain, majestic and magnificent. Some waterfalls leap and roar down the rocks, forming multi-tiered falls that delight the eyes and make visitors linger.
Finally, I've come to Jiuzhai. "Having seen Jiuzhai, no need to see any other water"—I'm content.
When our bus arrived at the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area, we got stuck in traffic. The driver told us: tourists who come to Jiuzhaigou always visit the Jiuzhaigou scenic area first, then they must check in at Jiuzhai Eternal Love to watch the show.
Jiuzhaigou can usually be explored in a morning, and in the afternoon, watching a show at the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area is the best way to relieve travel fatigue. Jiuzhai Eternal Love exactly provides such an opportunity for this trip.
Of course, if you prefer a slower pace and spend a whole day in Jiuzhaigou, you can sleep in the next day and come to Jiuzhai Eternal Love in the afternoon to watch the show—it's also excellent.
A particularly good thing is that the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area is only 6 kilometers from Jiuzhaigou, and a taxi ride costs just over 10 yuan. If you stay somewhere between Jiuzhaigou and the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area, that's perfect!
The welcome dance at the gate of the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area is both cute and youthful. It's summer vacation now, and the performance is said to start around 3:30 PM every day. Many tourists were drawn in after watching and directly bought tickets—haha, I was one of them!
After entering the scenic area, I recalled what the driver said earlier: "Those who come to Jiuzhaigou must check in at Jiuzhai Eternal Love." I also felt that the popularity of Jiuzhai Eternal Love is well-deserved, because the activities and shows here are truly wonderful and can sweep away the fatigue of the journey!
It's summer vacation, so many people choose to travel. Therefore, the scenic area has prepared a variety of audio-visual feasts for everyone. Inside the park, brilliant performances such as "Chieftain's Son-in-Law Selection," "Tibetan-Qiang Drum Dance," "Snowy Tibetan Music," "Ethnic Style Flash Mob Show," and "Guozhuang Carnival" are staged one after another.
As the essence of the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area, the indoor stage performance "Eternal Love of Jiuzhai" is staged on time in the evening. Because so many people come to watch, seats are usually all taken, so there are three shows every night: 17:00-18:00, 18:30-19:30, and 20:00-21:00. You can choose according to your schedule, but it's recommended to book tickets early, otherwise they might sell out—it's really popular!
"Eternal Love of Jiuzhai" is divided into scenes such as "Legend of Jiuzhai," "War Song of the Ancient Qiang," "Han-Tibetan Marriage Alliance," "Boundless Love," and "Auspicious Heaven and Earth." Every chapter, with the actors' dedicated performance and superb acting, made my blood boil!
The Aba Prefecture, where Jiuzhaigou County belongs, is a Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture, so the Jiuzhai Eternal Love performance naturally has local characteristics. The graceful and mysterious Tibetan and Qiang songs and dances took me on a journey through time.
The magnificent Tang Dynasty palace also appeared, showing Princess Wencheng's great deed of Han-Tibetan marriage alliance. The scene was grand and the stage was aesthetically stunning!
The charming shoulder-bell dance is the actors' sincere blessing from the Qiang people to us. The bells spinning on the girls' round shoulders, like meteors streaking across the night sky, combined with the unique multi-voice Qiang singing and the fine bell sounds like splashing water, created a unique welcoming song...
In this story of "Eternal Love of Jiuzhai," there is the romantic legend of the people on the clouds, the spiritual epic of national unity, and the peaceful paradise untouched by the mundane world, recreating a tragic story of love and hate.
When I saw the scene reflecting the Wenchuan earthquake, "Boundless Love," I admit I was deeply moved!
The sweeping searchlights and the cry for help "Is anyone there?" created a thrilling atmosphere in the dark environment. People flew down from the sky, climbed up from underground, ran from behind, and broke out from all sides...
Brave PLA soldiers and rescue teams rushed to the ruins to save people...
Maybe it's because I'm older that I can't bear such scenes. More likely, it was truly touching—my eyes reddened and tears welled up!
After coming out of the "Eternal Love of Jiuzhai" theater, the outdoor performances continued. Honestly, I didn't want to miss any of them.
Incorporating Sichuan's local culture, the "pandas" at the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area also captured our attention—dynamic, cheerful, and extremely cute!
When night fell, the bonfire in the Guozhuang was lit. The day's carnival needed a "conclusion." The time when everyone dances hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder is indeed rare, so let's "ignite"!
The scenery of the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area itself is also very beautiful. For example, the Wishing Corridor is absolutely no worse than some so-called "internet-famous spots." You can easily take stunning photos. If a young lady stands there, the effect is great!
Recently, the weather has been cooperative. With the blue sky as a backdrop, the prayer flags in the scenic area look particularly beautiful.
There are also attractions like the Thousand Buddha Cave and the Tubo (Tibetan) Market. Connected by the scenic area's "Ancient Tea Horse Road," linking the Caravan Square and Tea Horse Post, you can well experience the culture and scenery along the Tea Horse Road.
This Buddha statue is called Seme. It is said that Seme was originally a fairy from heaven. She and her sisters secretly came to the mortal world and met brave and fierce Tibetan youths like Dage. The young men and women were attracted to each other and refused to return to heaven. The Heavenly Court became angry and turned Seme and Dage into two snow mountains, the fairies into lakes, and the Tibetan lads into nine Tibetan villages. That is how Jiuzhai came to be...
The divine story is beautiful, and reality is also "wonderful." The Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area has carefully designed and built an aerial corridor in the Tibetan-Qiang Ancient City inside the park, where you can see the panoramic view around. Where prayer flags flutter, the view is open and clear...
Why not come with me to the time tunnel of the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area, to find the former self and explore the true meaning of the journey together!
Accommodation recommendation: Tibetan Village Homestay
The Tibetan Village Homestay is located in a village not far from the Jiuzhai Eternal Love Scenic Area and Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area. It has a large yard for parking. It is converted from the Tibetan host's own house, unlike the noisy lodgings by the roadside. The owner can provide shuttle service to the scenic area, and it's very affordable!
The homestay is in Tibetan style, with spacious and clean rooms. There are various room types such as king beds, standard rooms, triple rooms, and family rooms, offering many choices.
The village is a five-minute walk from the main road. The environment is elegant, with buildings rich in local ethnic characteristics. Taking portraits here also yields great shots!
The owner also runs a small hot pot restaurant: Bianbian Street Shuzhi Yun Small Hot Pot. It is really, really delicious, especially the pork intestines in the picture below. The burst of flavor in one bite is just too good, ahhh!
On this trip to Jiuzhai, I saw the long-cherished scenery in Jiuzhaigou, encountered long-lost emotions and stunning performances at Jiuzhai Eternal Love, and of course, didn't miss out on the food.
Actually, the most satisfying part of the whole journey was Jiuzhai Eternal Love. It truly is a place that captures both Jiuzhai's scenery and spectacular shows—perfectly fulfilling!
