More Than Scenery! The Most Fun Part of Jiuzhaigou Is Here!
When it comes to traveling in Sichuan, most people think of Jiuzhaigou.
But in Jiuzhaigou, there is more than just magnificent natural scenery. The Jiuzhaigou Eternal Love Scenic Area, rich in local cultural characteristics, is also an experience not to be missed.
The Jiuzhaigou Eternal Love Scenic Area is about seven kilometers from Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, with convenient transportation and well-developed surrounding facilities. If it weren't for the mountains you see when you look up, you would completely forget you are in western Sichuan.
Every afternoon when the scenic area opens, there is a grand welcome ceremony. The performances of the welcoming不倒翁小姐姐 (welcome wobble lady) and Kung Fu Panda are very eye-catching, instantly livening up the atmosphere.
Upon entering the scenic area, the first thing that catches your eye is the "Cry of Happiness." The Cry of Happiness is a sound-controlled fountain—the louder the crowd's decibels, the higher the water columns, enticing many children to give it a try. Participating in the contest can earn you a cute sticker given by the young ladies.
Although the highlight is "Eternal Love of Jiuzhaigou," the performances in the scenic area are non-stop. A Tibetan young man's rendition of "Magic Jiuzhaigou" is resounding and bold, leaving a lasting impression.
And unexpectedly, you can even see the unique Sichuan opera stunt "Face-Changing" within the scenic area!
As soon as "Sichuan Opera Variety Show" begins, the young lady in a bright red costume with flags on her back is absolutely dashing and beautiful!
Two stunts in Sichuan opera, one is fire-spitting and the other is face-changing, both amazed the audience. Although I am from Sichuan, it was my first time seeing these two stunts live, and I couldn't help but applaud!
"Hey! Yak" and "Chieftain's Son-in-law Selection" are two programs full of ethnic characteristics, drawing laughter from the audience.
Between shows, you can also visit the scenic area's photo spots. For example, the Wishing Corridor hung with colorful ribbons is great for photos!
And the neon-lit Time Tunnel is super cool!
Finally, the highlight "Eternal Love of Jiuzhaigou" took the stage, and I was immediately amazed by the gorgeous stage effects!
The one-hour performance is divided into five chapters: "Legend of Jiuzhaigou," "Ancient Qiang War Song," "Han-Tibetan Marriage," "Boundless Love," and "Heaven and Earth Auspiciousness." It perfectly combines Tibetan and Qiang traditional culture with high-tech stage effects, starting from ancient myths and telling the story of this magical land of Jiuzhaigou. Each chapter has its own unique brilliance.
The performance forms are very diverse, and what left a deep impression on me was the acrobatic performance. Light, beautiful, stunning—no amount of praise can express the feeling at that moment. The audience was completely immersed in this dreamlike performance, bursting into enthusiastic applause.
The second chapter, "Ancient Qiang Battlefield," presents a heroic elegy in the form of a stage play. In a short time, the story unfolds seamlessly with smooth stage transitions, making it very immersive.
The third chapter, "Han-Tibetan Marriage," can only be described as "gorgeous"! It brings the historical story of Princess Wencheng marrying into Tibet to life on stage, recreating the glory of the Tang Dynasty.
It is worth mentioning that through clever design and choreography, the performers close the distance with the audience, providing an incredibly immersive audiovisual experience.
The fourth chapter, "Boundless Love," shifts to modern times. Based on the 5.12 and Jiuzhaigou earthquakes, it vividly recreates the brilliance of human nature in disaster. In my opinion, it is also the most worth-watching chapter. Although I had seen it before at Songcheng in Shanghai, watching it again was still deeply moving.
Earthquakes and floods—the 5D stage effects are flawless, and the performers' full dedication makes the audience empathize, leaving their hearts stirred for a long time.
The last chapter, "Heaven and Earth Auspiciousness," I won't spoil for you. I can only responsibly say that it is truly, truly stunning! You must go and experience it yourself!
Don't think that the end of "Eternal Love of Jiuzhaigou" means the show is over. There is a finale interactive program called "Bonfire Carnival."
Young men and women in traditional costumes warmly invite the audience to join in. Everyone gathers around the bonfire, dancing to cheerful music, starting a carnival journey. Release the passion of summer to the fullest!
1. The scenic area opens at 3:00 PM. You can buy tickets online in advance. There are three performances: 17:00, 18:30, and 20:00.
2. If you plan to visit Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, it is still recommended to stay near the Eternal Love Scenic Area. Eating and accommodation are very convenient, and there are shuttle buses to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area. The key is that it's cheaper than staying near the entrance. This time we booked Jiuzhaigou Zailushang Inn, for a little over 100 yuan, great value for money. Also, their Chinese food is excellent and cheap.
3. From Chengdu to the scenic area is over 400 kilometers. Driving takes at least 7 hours (many sections under construction). If taking a shuttle bus, you can board from the airport, Chengdu East Railway Station, Kuanzhai Alley, Shuhan Road East Metro Station, etc. The last buses are around 12:00.
