Summer Escapes: 6 Must-Visit Cool Destinations in China for July and August!
Summer vacation is here—you want to go out and play, but you're afraid of the heat. That means you haven't chosen the right places. I'm recommending 6 top domestic summer resorts for you. Bring your children along for a family trip, rediscover childlike innocence in the embrace of nature, broaden your kids' horizons through travel, and escape the heat together under a natural air conditioner.
1. Jiuzhaigou Valley:
Reason for recommendation: Jiuzhaigou is famous for its unparalleled pristine and mysterious beauty. Its natural scenery combines lakes, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and forests, earning it the reputation of a "fairy tale world." Here, snowy peaks stand tall, green mountains and flowing waters complement each other, and the waterfalls and streams are especially charming, exceptionally majestic and beautiful. With thousand-year-old trees, exotic flowers and plants, changing seasons, vibrant colors, shimmering reflections, and spectacular landscapes, it is an ideal place to cool off in summer.
Highlight: View water, waterfalls, forests, escape the heat.
Reason for recommendation: Compared to the sub-zero winter weather where you shiver but can't see the true face of Changbai Mountain covered in snow, summer Changbai Mountain truly reveals the beauty of "Little Switzerland in China." Don't know what to do in Northeast China besides skiing? Try mountain off-road vehicles, rainbow grass sliding, cycling tours, aerial cable car sightseeing, hot spring pools, and close encounters with forest animals.
Highlight: For hiking enthusiasts, the western slope of Changbai Mountain offers beautiful scenery everywhere, plus authentic Northeast cuisine that lets you enjoy something different every day!
There are quite a few places worth visiting in Qingdao. I've listed some of the spots I think are great:
1. Xiaomaidao Park: This park is very beautiful. You can go there to play and enjoy the sea views until sunset.
2. Qingdao Haichang Polar Ocean Park: Experience the joy of the ocean world, well worth bringing kids!
3. Taipingjiao Park: The seaside scenery here is truly stunning, perfect for photos. There are also cafes and restaurants by the sea to explore.
4. Daxue Road: A trendy wall with an artistic vibe, red walls and yellow tiles are also beautiful. The surrounding streets have many small shops.
4. Shangri-La, Yunnan
Reason for recommendation: Shangri-La's natural landscape features snow-capped mountains, glaciers, canyons, forests, meadows, and lakes—beautiful, bright, and serene. In July and August, avoid the crowds and let yourself be immersed in nature, listening to the wind, the birds, the flowing water, and your own heart. This is the real Shangri-La.
Highlight: Escape the heat, photography, view snow-capped mountains and forests.
Reason for recommendation: This is a famous seaside summer resort. In midsummer, the climate is pleasant, making visitors feel relaxed and joyful, with all heat dissipated. It is also one of the nine best sunrise viewing spots in China. The Beidaihe sunrise spot is located on the Beidaihe seaside, with the best viewpoint at the Eagle's Horn Pavilion at the northeast end.
Highlight: Watch sunrise, play in water and sand, escape the heat.
6. Guizhou—Step into a Natural Oxygen Bar
Over three-quarters of Guizhou Province's regions have suitable climates for summer tourism, earning it the titles of "natural air conditioner" and "natural oxygen bar," with refreshing temperatures around just over 20°C.
Highlight: Huangguoshu Waterfall, Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, Fanjing Mountain, etc.
