Family of Three Road Trip Through Fujian and Guangdong: 13 Days, 9 Cities (Spring Festival Edition)
1) The Spring Festival holiday is long, and the festive atmosphere in Fujian and Guangdong is very strong, with many folk activities like the wandering gods in Fuzhou, the street parade in Quanzhou, and in Guangdong, even more: Yingge dance, flag carrying, parading the local deity, dragon and lion dances. The biggest issue is the huge crowds; you might not even see an event even on tiptoes. So if traveling during Spring Festival, you must go against the peak, like we did: pass through Fuzhou, Quanzhou, and Chaoshan before the new year to avoid crowds. On the first day of the lunar new year, while everyone is busy visiting, just enjoy a small taste of the activities and leave on the second day. Alternatively, wait until after the holiday when workers go back to work, then you can catch the Lantern Festival events (which are actually the highlight).
