After a busy year-end at work, everyone started thinking about their unused annual leave, and I began to yearn for the outside world. Scanning the map of China, I looked for a place to relax for a few days.

Early in the morning, I got up early and strolled through Shuhe Ancient Town. The whole town still seemed sleepy, perhaps due to the time difference from the east, or maybe because of the lifestyle here.

I first came to Lijiang in May 2018, a hurried arrival and a hurried departure. On the bluestone-paved streets of Sifang Street, I watched the ancient town in the rain, looking picturesque and undisturbed.

Every time I come to Lijiang, I must visit the Old Town of Lijiang. In the afternoon and evening, the streets are packed with people! Yet every time I am captivated by the charm of this ancient town.

Traveling through Yunnan in winter, from Nujiang, Shangri-La, Lijiang, Pu'er to Xishuangbanna, I have hiked the Ancient Tea Horse Road several times. Previously, when visiting Sichuan, Shaanxi, Qinghai, and Tibet, I also passed through sections of it.
